First Solo grow, low budget setup suggestions and help

Hey everyone, been lurking around for a little while reading up and catching up on the times. Used to grow with my father 15ish years ago, haven't been around it since. Sick of being sick and tired of being tired being on opiates all the time for my back pain.

Anyhow I would like to grow a plant or two for myself, maybe a bit for some extra green flow  The grow space I have is pictured here:

It absolutely must remain stealth, smell isn't too much of an issue, but sight is. The space shown is actually a part of my computer desk which I feel is the best place I have. I could use boxes in a corner I have, but I don't want to inflate my costs, since I have a pretty limited budget of $200 for everything. I have a 500w computer PSU which I can convert, and 3 computer fans, as well as weather striping to fill the door gaps

So what I'm asking here is what you all would suggest for lights, ceed strains, training practices etc for this space (or maybe boxes if affordable ?) I'm really leaning towards autos due to the amount of time and ease of growth to break into this wonderful hobby :weed:

I know I'm asking a lot so I really appreciate any help you all would toss my way. kiss-ass

Yeah that's what I figured would be best in there. I was thinking 4x 42w on top and 4 on the bottom/sides. Thoughts?

When it comes to strains, like I said, I'm thinking some auto strain. I've been researching them, but there are SO many to choose from. Anyone have thoughts as to which would fit best in there, with good yield/strength?

I'm hoping to fit 2 plants in there, but would it be better with only one that takes up all the room with training?

Or should I just scrap the cabinet and do up some incognito boxes in my corner?

*** Edit ** Seems I may have just scored a pretty good deal. 500w hps with reflector and converter, ecogrower max, hydrofarm co2 system, and a hydrofarm light rail for $140 :hump:... what sort of box size would I be looking at with that setup?

Not sure what you mean by "box". I constructed a not so incognito 4x4 tent in the corner of my home office, where no one ever goes. You will some real exhaust and odor control. If it needs to be invisible then you WILL need odor control! But point being you will have sound as well.

Skip the CO2.

I grew CFL and now LED. I have personally never understood why to grow autos. Not criticizing, just me personally.

I meant tent, a lot of terms to remember in my mushy brain lol =) Been reading up a lot, since the last time I was even involved in growing was about 15 years ago. A lot has changed, and I was young. So I'm pretty much a total newb.

For various reasons I'm unwilling to go into its only sight that's an issue for me, not smell or sound. Even so, I will be running a carbon filter anyhow.

The reason I'm thinking auto is just general ease. Essentially its my 'first' time out, so I'd rather just have an easy time of it, without having to worry so much about photo periods and such. And faster flowering. After a few grows of that I'll likely delve into photos.

Only mentioned the co2 because its all a package deal for $140 =D and all the equipment I mentioned is still in the air anyhow, the guy seems a little 'iffy' so we'll see how that goes. Until then I'll still be entertaining the idea of that cabinet and 1-2 plants, and if so, how would the 8 cfls hold up in there? If I can swing it should I look into trying to stuff a few more lights in there, or should I really just look into trying to do a tent that looks like a stack of boxes anyhow?

Thank you for your replies so far, keep em coming =D

With 11", I think you are looking only at lighting from above. You may want to look into T5. You know.... LED may be the way to go. I have a 50 W dual spectrum that only cost about $70. I don't much use it but threw a 12-12 from seed under it once for shits and giggles and it turned out okay. Then you need not worry about heat.

Also, go to walmart and get a couple of emergency camping blankets (mylar). Line the inside of the cab with it for reflection.

So I ended up with the hydro setup anyhow. Got an Ecogrower max, 600w hps with balast, a big ol exhaust fan, co2 regulator, 8' light rail, a metric f*ck ton of nutes including bud candy :D, digital timers, tons of rockwool... pretty much everything I need for a grand total of $140! So I'll be forgetting the cabinet and making a stealth tent in the corner of my office. plan on making it look like a big stack of boxes.

Thank you for your help so far Dad =) I was looking at buying a roll of mylar, but the blankets are a fantastic idea!

I think I'm going to order some Auto Seeds Candy Kush, unless someone has a suggestion for an auto with high thc AND cbd that would be better?

You can get Agricultural grow lights at places like home depot. they create alotta heat tho, i ude two big ones, they costs about 20 bucks but worth it.

mate have a look at my grow as im doing mine in a much similar fashion, you will have to take the back board off your wardrobe to fit the reflective sheeting properly as its a fucking cunt to do, i'm running 4 CFL's, and slightly warpped the bottom of the door and placed the fan straight infront of the door so it draws the air in.

good thing about a wardrobe is even though i have a home made reflector blocking air circulation its still going very very well !

Peace Out & Good Luck
