First Outdoor Happening This Weekend

i have a few clones. About 1 foot tall that I been growing in solo cups. I want to plant them outside this weekend. I live in southern Ontario and I think it’s a good time to pop em outside. Sativa strain is going outside.

My question is this, should I plant right into my soil in my garden? Or should I plant them in fabric pots and leave the pots outside? The plants are gonna be under direct sunlight for about 14-16 hours straight as this section of the backyard gets full sun.

I want to put them next to my pond but don’t want the roots to fuck up ky pond liner at all but I do want to try and grow monsters haha.

I would put them in the ground. That's what I'll be doing with my indica, sometime in the next week. Probably day after tomorrow, and I'm in southern Ontario as well. My neighbours grew some real monsters last summer, directly in the ground. The frost is a concern, but you can cover them with buckets overnight if it looks like it'll get cold again.
Even a garbage bag over a tomato cage can protect against a light frost, it's worked for my hot peppers the last few years, and they have pretty much the same climate requirements as sativas.

Another Southern Ontario grower here. I’m running a couple Afghan Kush plants this year, should finish with plenty of time. I have my timer set up to daylight hours right now, seedlings are only a week old.

Been bringing them outside for a few hours a night after work this week to harden them off. I’ll be transplanting them to 1gal pots in a couple weeks, then eventually 25gal fabric pots.

The thing I like about pots is being able to move them and rotate if necessary. Last year Moby Dick grew to around 10ft in 25gal pots.

I do like the mobility of pots, but the current setup in my backyard doesn't really lend itself to them. I also have a bunch of hot peppers and tomatoes.
That said if Skoal is concerned about the roots screwing up his pond liner, 25gal pots would certainly be big enough to give his girls enough room to get huge!

Yeah it’s a decision I need to make. I don’t think the roots can really pop through the pond liner really. But then again I’ve never done outdoor. Pond liner is real thick rubber. Don’t really wanna go out to invest in a 25 gallon pot and all the soil needed to fill that sucker. But the roots are gonna get pretty big and go pretty deep so i dunno if the plant is a few feet from the pond if that’ll be okay. Or if it will still fuck it up.

Yeah I didn’t think that through that much. Only spot I had to grow it to be honest. Wanted a plant by the pond lol. For decoration purposes. If she harvests. It’ll be a bonus. Never did an outdoor. But yeah I’m gonna train her for sure.

Oh man you guys are brave! I’ve brought mine out a few times but just during the day, maybe leave it out tonight. She’s just a baby though.

On a side note both of those plants are going to be growing through the fence by July lol. Start training now.

Yeah, that's why I put the tomato cage around her. Had to be really careful since I waited so long to transplant her.
