First Outdoor Grow Question - General Questions

I've learned so much about marijuana growing in the past couple of months (thanks to this forum). I have a few questions that I can't find a solid answer for. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it seems as if most people prefer indoor growing rather than outdoor.

My grow is just a random bag seed from some schwag, growing outdoors on my balcony (very high up and no sun blockage except for the metal bars). My questions are as follows:

1. My plant has been growing for about 3 weeks now, how would you rate it's growth (slow/fast)?

2. I have read a lot about "topping" plants, is this a good time to do this? What's the advantage/disadvantage to doing this?

3. I see pistols underneath the leaves in which I tried to snap a picture of but thanks to my shitty camera phone, it's a bit blurry. Is this for sure that the plant is a female? Or do male parts look like pistols before they develop?

4. I am using 100% Organic Alaskan Fish Oil. Is this stuff even good? How often would you suggest I use this?

5. Will this plant survive if I leave it in this pot (1 gallon) through the entire vegetation cycle?

1. check my journal. the recent pics are at about 4 weeks. yours is growing well.
2. I am topping half of mine to figure out the difference in yield. but its really preference. if you have hieght restrictions, top that. but if you are going to, now is the time. do it at the 4th or 5th node. but i would try FIMming. it seems the best.
3. the pistols look the same for a while. prolly a few more weeks.
4. no idea. i use the fox farm setup.
5. no. you want at least a 5 gallon bucket.

Do you know how many hours of light and dark its getting?

Very lucky, beautiful plants you got there. Thanks for the answers.

I do have height restrictions. The balcony is only about 5 feet high and I don't want the plant to get too big so it's noticeable. I'm at the corner though so I'm pretty hidden from my neighbors. I read that leaving the plant in a smaller bucket would reduce it's height. Is this correct?

Also, it gets some sun light from around 12 PM - to almost 8 PM since I am facing one side. I was worried that this would be an issue but truthfully I have 3 others and they all seem to be growing just fine. I face the east so the sun hits it pretty hard when its setting.

your plants will flower probably in about a month with that light. you wont have a height problem. So keep feeding, water every 3 days, and i would still step it up to a 3 gallon at least. more space=more roots=more bud. regardless of hieght. ad personally i would top it. the first time you do it its hard. really hard. it feels so wrong. but the plant will heal in about 3-4 days and continue growing with 2-4 seperate tops. its worth it especially since its gonna be flowering soon.

Thanks. Good luck to you as well. I will go ahead and top her and move her into a 3 gallon pot whenever she gets a little bigger. I got a big batch of some blue dream from so-cal (thx) that had a couple of nice seeds in them and they are germinating as we speak so I'm looking forward to that!!
