Two weeks after the seeds broke soil 3 NYC turbos were started 2germed.
I started in soil due to my gardening background. A Dixie cup with four slits and the bottom cut out then set inside another intact.
That let me check root development and made transplant really effortless.
I'm really excited I haven't smoked in 8years due to "voluntary" hair follicle tests at my old job.
Now that I'm out of that I can smoke but due to relocation I'm cut off and the local dispensaries are just starting to apply for leases.

These are after 4 weeks I made minor changes and have started the two AK babies, one has sprouted the other has me on the edge of my seat. To add to the suspense none of these are feminised.
The diesels are short and squat but the stems are REALLY THICK! After they reached the6th node at 3weeks I topped them and again at four. Initially I had the LEDs set at 18 inches and today I set them at 30 hoping the plants grow some legs.
My temps average at 79 f and humidity around 30% 20160117_154529.jpg 20160117_154501.jpg 20160117_154445.jpg

The soil completely ate the Dixie cups, I excavated a bit and there's no trace of them below the soil level. I've started watering with unsulphered molassis that I get from a local wine supply shop, the same stuff I use in my black mead.
It has to be unsulphered or the yeast turns it into deadly H2s gas.
Just a heads up, when you mix subcools soil recipe, you'll know its sat long enough when you do your final mix up and it dumps out of the bucket in one myko root bound lump, don't do it in direct sunlight or the UV rays will kill it.
Those myko roots will bind symbiotically to your babies roots and feed her every thing she needs in exchange for the sugar from photosyntheses. Its like setting up a pre made root system. Check out page 401 of the cannabis encyclopedia for what types to use in your soil mix.

Does anyone have experience with vertical supplemental lighting? Has it increased yields or improved lower bud formation.
I'm really debating spending the extra 70 bucks at 2000 lumins per light. And is there a more RED t5 bulb available on the market for flowering.
I'm just trying to get the best bang for my buck, the diesels are supposed to take 10 to 12 weeks for flower and I'm probably looking at another 3weeks veg. Granted I haven't had any in 8 years my tolerance will be nonexistent so it should last until the next grow.
I'm hoping for 4 oz which back in the day with mexi seed brick would last me nearly two months so if this new fangled stuff is as great as you guys say, that 4 oz should last quite a while.
the AK is more indica so its not what I need more for my buddy back from over sea's
It will be nice to get off the prozac with the diesel

Oh and feel free to post, positive and constructive criticism welcome as well as crazy ideas and input.
Or links to your grow if you have a similar strain or set up!

Well we are at week five and only 12inches tall but just as wide if not more. I've noticed some Brown spots on the lowest leaves and a few scars from rough handling being in such a tight space. I'm attributing the brown spots to being in contact with the soil and removed them via pinching just in case.
I have to say I'm not impressed with the ak47xtreme as seedlings and am going to transplant them to super soil mixed pots soon.
No sex yet though I'm pretty certain the wide one is female. Here's hoping for one of each so I can blow another 200 bucks on a grow cab for the male. I'm thinking three more weeks veg to let the am catch up and then I'll switch the lights off 24hours and start my 12 /12 currently I'm running 16/8 because I'm in no hurry and I want the babes to be rested and happy.20160125_203048.jpg 20160125_202958.jpg 20160125_203009.jpg 20160125_203024.jpg

Well I've been off from posting for a while and there doesn't seem to be any interest but here's an update for others who may want to try a similar set up.
On February 10th at 8 weeks veg I saw pre flowers on both plants and one turned out to be male. Strangely enough it was the shorter bushier of the two. I decided since it is my first legitimate grow that I'd kill it and give the whole cab to the remaining lady.
The ak extremes all died 2out of 5 germed and they wilted in the same start up soil as the nyctd.
I went into 12 12 for the remaining female and began a heavy lst which over three days gave me 21 solid bud sites. I'm at week three of flower and the plant has taken up the length and width of the 3x2 cabinet (very bushy) and its 2ft tall from the soil level.
When I killed the male I was frightened by the fact that it had used up most of its 3 1/2 gallons of pot space. I took another4gallon trash can and filled it to th top with super soil and then carefully cut the bottom off of the females pot and slightly agitated the roots and set that pot in the new one effectively adding 4more gallons of grow space.
The next day (the 11th) the plant grew 3inches.
After week two of flowering roots were showing in the drain holes of the second pot!
I haven't cut any of the undergrowth but she has shredded most of the leaves I would have cut any way.
The 21bud sites are all showing pale white extremely long double hairs and nodes are really compact. So much so that I placed a third fan in to prevent rot but my humidity is steady at 31% and temps average 80/65 day night.

I haven't seen any nute burn or deficiencies except slow methodical growth. My LEDs are now 12 inches from the tops but I have three more feet to work with over the next 7 to 8 weeks. I've decided to use a 1/4 solution of fox farms beast blooms once a week along with my three weekly waterings of molasses.
Like I said earlier there isn't any interest so far in this grow so I will try to post a few picks this week and then give a summary update, pre harvest plus pics, and finally a dry weight for yield and a smoke report.
For now I must say that Apollo LEDs are working good, the supplemental 4, 2ft flouros on the sides seem to help, PROPS TO SUBCOOL FOR THE SUPER SOIL RECIPIE, AND MANY MANY THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE ON HERE WHO SHARE THEYRE KNOWLEDGE.
AMS makes a pretty decent diesel so far, it REEKS of grapefruit in here and the saliva leaves are starting to show on the bud sites.
The akxtreme sucked a big one I treated it no different than my diesels and it just wouldn't take. I'll not order ak again from them but will try it from more common providers in the future. But the diesel is a winner and if it goes as well as it has in the end I will definitely give they're other strains a go. Next is light of Jah AMS and I'm thinking of crossing that with my diesel back breeding five gens and then crossing with a world of seeds landrace Malawi and doing the same with a few tricks and twists. I have a master gardener certificate and genetics is a hobby that I'm pretty good at with heirloom tomatoes and peppers.
So I dedicate this grow to others to stop in to see how it turns out if they are curious about these strains.

Well I would like to follow up. I grew to ten weeks 4days and the trichomes were 70% creamy with 10% red.
For 72 hours I shut off the lights and then cut my baby down.
Here's the recap.
She got 3 feet high exactly, in a makeshift 7gallon (cut off bottom of the 4 gallon and set in another) pot filled with 25% dr earth garden and 75% subcools orig super soil.
She was topped to three nodes after reaching 5 waited a week and chopped the two tops to three nodes from the crotch after reaching five nodes on each.
I used LST and produced 21 bud sites all even with each other using garden rubber ties
The nodes were very tight
We ran two Apollo 400 series LED'S at 158watts a piece via killawatt reading and 4, 2ft t5 ho flouro"s
I watered when the soil meter said dry checking every day and watered until it started to trickle out of the drain holes
18 hrs a day veg for 8 weeks then abruptly dropped to 12\12 for 10, 1\2 weeks and then cut lights for 72hours
I trimmed out the fan leaves and lightly trimmed the sugar leaves.and let dry for five days
The smell was subdued but there and had a slight wet hay smell with a lamp kerosene base
The lesser twigs snapped and the larger ones too but not complete!y.
This strain got pretty purple on the top halves of all 32 buds and some colas were a solid packed 9 inches long.
We are now mid week one of jar cure but the final tally is 2, 1\2 zips of colas and 2.8 zips of lower popcorn dry.
Preliminary smoke report
I find myself in the garage detailing my bike with a toothbrush listening to Monty python tunes.
Cool chills on the tops of my arms and I feel like a marionette walking.
This is phenomenal! I am happy, clear, and focused.
LED WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUPER SOIL WORKS!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!
AMS NYC TURBO IS BETTER THAN PROZAC.
lol pictures in a bit.
5.3 ZIPS TOTAL GEEWIZZZZ HALLELUJAH.

To new growers.
Read as many posts as you can on all subjects and research the things mentioned with google.
The fine folks here get all the credit for this very lovely grow and I am honored by all I've learned and about to learn.
Do not expect perfection and just do your best.
You don't need the highest dollar equipment. The lights, cab , fans nutes, and seeds came out under 400 dollars and after curing I'm likely to have more than 4ounces I don't know the "street value on that but I'm guessing I came ahead in value and quality.
AMS did right by me with this strain but their AK crapped out and I haven't tried the caramel again yet.
This journal is finished, this stuff smokes no choke flying high fantastic before cure so I'm assuming its only going to get better.
