Ok so I have been wanting to grow for ever blah blah you know the drill. I have been in college for the past four years with roomates and just did not have the balls or lack of common sense to grow in those conditions. Now I have got a bit of space, and have saved a bit of money, and well you know the rest. Now my motivation goes back to college when I was the sole distributor for a medium sized sensi operation. I got access to more flavors than baskin robbins. I had everything by sensi, everything from DNA, SOMA, and more. Ive seen 28 gram skunk #1, shiva shanti, martian mean green, chocolope, mountain jam, and lambs bread colas. Ive smoked no less than a pound of bubblegum from serious seeds, and have had the distinct honor of paying 140/quarter for true living organic Jack Herer from sensi flowered for 12 weeks and fed with guano teas. Long story short, I want it all back.

Here is a list of the equiptment I have aquired over the past year, most all of it is brand new off craigslist, and dirt cheap! Smart shopping!

-1000w hortilux hps air cooled hood
-600w hortilux hps nice std. hood
-400w hortilux hps cheapo hood
-400w phillips hps wingding thing
-400w hortilux MH big hood
-450 cfm vortex intake fan
-huge mountain man carbon scrubber
-100 lb. co2 w/ regulator and photo timer
-industrial cage fan custom boxed for intake
-botanicare soil package

My plan is to start small, and start from seed, and while growing out a few name brand mothers, flower a few plants in the mean time as practice for the next time. I plan on only using one light to flower at first, and I have placed the 400w hortilux bulb in the air cooled hood instead of the 1000 and will begin with 400w. I started super skunk, shiva shanti, kataract kush, chocolope, querkle, bcn diesel, and blue hash all at the same time. I planted some bag seed two weeks ahead of the name brand genetics and those are the larger plants in my pictures. I have not had many problems so far, just dealing with heat and humidity mostly, and some yellowing on the tips of my leaves. I chalked it up to newbie over fert and flushed with clearex and yellow turned to green. I will be using half doses of the botanicare from now on. Now my only complaint is somewhat slow growth and some deformed leaves showing on a couple plants. They look normal until the end where instead of coming to a point they are blocky and just seem to cut off. Here is where I am as of today, right now, but things are scheduled to move quickly from here so if anyone can lend me some advice, or point out any pitfalls that may await me, mainly I just want somebody else to look at my babies and agree that they look healthy, a second opinion of sorts. Well.....what do you think!?

Here is that Shiva Shanti plant from the first picture.

And here is the super skunk that is pictured right beside it.

Overall the super skunk from sensi seeds has dominated everything else by far. It caught plants two weeks older. It loves to be topped, the tap root was a half inch long in plain water while germinating for 24 hours. They are the squattiest bushes in the group, yet have the thickest growth and most symmetrical node formation. On the one hand I am dying to flower them all RIGHT NOW, but on the other, I want lots of clones, so I took one round of early clones so that I can go ahead and flower all but one of each strain, then when I find out what plants are the bomb, I will have a corresponding clone to grow as a mother.

Check back soon, tomorrow is my big push to tear down, clean and reset the grow room as a flower room. I may take a handful of last minute cuttings and then I am scheduled to go 12/12 day after tomorrow. If a plant gets tall but has only one top, and no other nodes besides leaf nodes, will it produce more than one bud? Is it worth wasting my precious light on these lanky plants that only have one shoot 3 weeks into veg?

Also some of my skunk and querkle plants have 6-8 tops already and are bushy but only 6 inches tall...is it too early to flower these babies? I want an oz per plant so I do not want to jump the gun on vegetative growth...what do you think?

I agree, looks like you are off to a great start.

If your goal is to have a steady supply you should consider going perpetual. If you have the space where your mothers are gonna be vegging you'll have a steady supply of clones. Ive been perpetual for a year and a half now, after you work out some of the kinks (schedule of harvests, canopy control etc) its great...i never run out of smoke.
