first groww

Alright i have a power grower complete system wwith a 150 watt hps compact grow kit and a dark room 80 for my room, im using advanced nutrients sensi grow and just switched my light cycle so im now using sensi bloom.
my plants are at my friends house hes really bad about remmembering to water the plants
the roots are already hangin in the water
is it bad to not water them frequently??
and another quesrion my plants are getting really close to the light and i cant raise it anymore!! what do i do

I don't know what that system is but in general watering plants in hydro from the top is dangerous - cubes get too wet and can lead to stem rot.
