No its the same cut, just at a different location. Look into Uncle Ben's thread on this, he is the master. It is however arguable that no weight gains are actually made with this tech. Good Luck, happy growing.
I am going to try both ways with the same strain (mother) they are the same height and width so it will give me a better idea of which way to go on the next set.

Thats a very good idea, never a bad idea to make some sort of journal, months and hundreds of bong hits later it is hard to remember what was what. Just a few pics makes it a whole lot easier to remember.

I've also heard different arguments for and against topping increasing yield, I feel like one way it can most help influence yield is by using it to take best advantage of your lighting. For instance with a 1000w HPS there's no reason to because it has great penetration power, but with only a 150w HPS over the plant a shorter more even canopy will out produce a taller more narrow canopy.

I used UB method many weeks ago on 3 out of 4 plants as my SO didnt want theirs cut. Mine have almost caught up in height & are much bushier then the uncut one. Who do u think is jealous now, lol.
"Within the next 1 1/2 - 2 weeks I want to top the plants to get 2 or 4 colas. I would prefer to have 4 but I don't want to stunt the growth to much, the plants are 2 1/2 weeks old now and will cutting for 4 colas slow the growth alot more than cutting for 2."
if u want 2 colas topp it..if u want 4 fim it..most people dont top more then twice,fimming is just cutting @80% of the growth tip off..topping takes longer for the plant to recover,fimming is quicker..or you can pinch all the new growth shutes all over the plant..personally i pinch...
