what soil, ferts, feed etc. for outdoors? Getting ferts soon. What would you recommend? Would any kind of fert high in nitrogen work? There's a plant shop right by me that I'm sure I could find something.

what is your setup if your inside?

and what strain is it? A random seed from some mids I had :)

That's how far it is today.

When can I start telling if it will be male or female?

depends on how long you wanna veg for.
(By "veg" I mean leave the lights on 18/6 or 24/0.)
Most plants show preflowers after about 4 or 5 weeks of 18/6 or 24/0
If you switch the lights to 12/12 before the plant shows preflowers, it may take up to 2 or 3 weeks of 12/12 for the plant to show sex.

you're a long way to show sex. you should think if you're only goal is to smoke weed, then you should find someone to buy from. growing marijuana, it's a very interesting thing, but require some atention which i can see you don't have yet. don't start till you don't have some basics. you can find over the internet or starting the journal with questions, and other users will help. as far as i can see, you didn't read nothin'. don't be so careless, because that's what you'll get in the end. i did download over 4 gb of videos, and over 200mb of books, besides this forum. it's like starting and lifting a heli, and waiting indications what to do next while you're in the air. that will be hard to handle. pay some more attention when starting actions like that, and try to get more documented because it's in your advantage, and will help you a lot.

My goal isn't to just smoke the plant. I just think it would be something fun to try. I'd be commited. I already love the little guy as it is.

As far as not reading anything, I've read a lot. Never downloaded videos or books and doubt I know nearly as much as most people on this forum but I think I have a pretty good idea of what to do.

Looking good so far bro! Just sit back and relax... your plant will be fine. These little guys are pretty damn resilient. Keep watering it every other day and ask questions! Take lots of pictures and anything you're not sure about just ask, there are tons of knowledgeable people here as well as people just starting off like you. :blsmoke:

Providing regular pic's is a good way to check on your own plants' progress. To you it may not seem like much is happening, but when you can go back and look at pic's, you see exactly how well you're doing.

hey. im an experienced botanist and cannabis grower but happen to be new to the site so ill help you out. it seems like your plant is growing extremely slow and is stretching horribly.

a way to avoid stretching is to provide adequate lighting at a suitable distance from your plant. an even easier way to grow your plant, and produce better result would be to keep it outdoors away from walls and other non plant friendly location. you want it to absorb as much light as possibly, so it can use that energy to stay healthy and produce more green matter. best of luck to you.

if you get a chance, scope out my experimental fluorescent grow. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/14275-first-floro-grow-comments-appreciated.html#post139858

my plant has a mutant leaf, but it is only 4 days old and has highly surpassed your plant.

So I need more light? I just bought some CFLs for night time so I can have it in the light as much as possible. Hopefully I can fix it! And thanks for your help.

Now that I look back I see that the stretching has stopped or greatly slowed down which is nice to see. ( I guess that's the beauty of journals. )

I'll be posting pictures tonight.

if you have it indoors under lights try to aim for around 2500-3000 lumens per square foot of grow space. more lighting is recommended but that much is suitable for adequate growth. also get a nice fan. one that isnt too strong because your plant is still small but one that well efficiently cool down the lighting. try to get a multiple speed fan. and be careful with cfls, high wattages cfl's can actually get very hot so if you go for really good cfl's, make sure they're appropriately cool.

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

if your plant still continues to stretch really bad, a great way to support it, is to take a fast food straw, cut it to length with sharp scissors, and take a sharp razor and cut a slit all the way down it. then after that is done you can pull it open and CAREFULLY put it around your plants stem. and its nice too, because since the straw is slit all the way down when your plant begins to grow it can continue to use the support of the straw and the straw will open as it grows.
