God Bud Feminized Seeds (4)

Germinating on a paper towel moistened with tap water PH'd to 5.8 in an open zip lock baggie.

Rockwool is soaking in a tapwater PH'd to 5.2 and H2O2 1ml/L.

Seed/Clone chamber is 83-85 degrees adjusted by thermostat with 3 43w CFL bulbs equal to 150W and emitting 2600 lumens per bulb.

Nothing happened with the seeds for 24 hours so I threw 3 bag seeds in a cup of water and over the next few days those seeds proceeded to do absolutely nothing.

The water started to cloud up and so I threw it and the bagseeds out. I cleaned and re-filled the glass with ph 5.8 tapwater and put 5 feminized God Bud seeds into it.

The seeds in the paper towel have not changed or cracked either.

I am concerned that storing the seeds at 90+ temperatures for a few months may have killed them.

Time will tell...

I guess I was too quick on the trigger with the new seeds. It appears that one of the paper towel seeds cracked & 3 of the seeds in water cracked.

I have placed them in rockwool cubes with ~20ml of water ph'd to 5.8 and 1ml/L H202. The cubes weigh 27.5-32 grams including stakes.

I got sentimental and named my plants... They are *A*, *B*, *C*, *D* :bigjoint:

I have the remaining 5 seeds soaking in water to see if I can get a few more to crack.

I am using a light bulb more for temperature control than light for the cubes right now.

I live in a very dry region and the humidity levels have been between 6 & 15% ambient for the last few days.

I placed a dish of water in the germination chamber to up the humidity to between 50 & 60 optimally.

It has been 48 hours since the seeds were placed in the rockwool and as of yet no sign of plants.

The first seed popped out of rockwool about 9pm on 10/16/2008.

Here is a picture from 10/17/2008.

The item that looks like a fat green marker in the pictures is a temperature and humidity data logger. This is a nice little tool to map out what the conditions are in your grow room for a period of time. It will take up to 16000 samples.

Then you just plug it into the computer USB port and download the data directly to your computer for analysis.

The printout looks like this.

Cubes "B", "C" , & "D" are on their way. No sign of growth from cube "A".

I am assembling the flood and drain portion of the veg/grow closet. It takes approximately 3 minutes to flood my tray and 4 1/2 minutes to drain the tray.

There are no major changes today. Still no sign of life from cube "A" although I am still treating it as live.

I am considering using ABS plastic piping for venting the bottom of the closet and to prevent light from entering. I will cut the pipes down if this is the final design I decide upon.

I have finished connecting the filter to the blower, running the electrical for the fan with a variable speed and thermostat control.

I have also installed the side bracing for the front panels that I will install for a door and for the ventilation grills.

Update...

The plant in cube "C" is drooping, and the plant in cube "D" one of the new leaves tip is starting to turn yellow... My weed baron days are numbered

Temperature may be too high and I am trying to lower it but the humidity is suffering. One thermometer says I am at about 84 degrees another says 85-86 (30C). They may have been overwatered since I had the cubes to 30grams a few times and they drop about 4-5 grams/12 hours. Humidity is dropping to between 25 & 40 to lower the temps.

I decided to feed them some light nutes and back off on the watering a little bit. Mixed 1ml/L Canna nutes + 1.5ml/L H202 and dipped them to weigh between 19-22grams this morning.

Based on advice from Al I brought my temps down to 79 or so but had to open the grow box up to do it. The current humidity in the grow room is 22% which is alot better than the 6% currently through the rest of the house...

I weighed the cubes this morning and they were very light, cube "D" weighed only 8 grams Yikes!! Got to keep closer track on the watering with the lower humidity. It may help the plants though.

Cube "C" still looks droopy and unhappy, cube "B" looks unchanged but cube "D" seems to be forming material for further growth at the junction of the primary leaves.

Plants are doing alright, certainly not worse. It appears that cube "D" is getting ready to sprout another set of leaves.

I moved the CFL's to about 12" above the plants, lowered the temp to between 74 & 78 and the humidity is about 22%.

The plants are a mixed bag. Cube "B" has really done nothing although the roots growing out of the cube are yellowing. Cube "C" is doing badly and the base leaves started to turn yellow.

As a final attempt I am staking the plant up to the light to see if I can get it to hold on but I think the roots may be rotten or something. I have stayed light on the watering but the damage may have already been done. We will see.

Cube "D" is doing really well and the plant is preparing to put up its 2nd set of leaves.

I have finshed most of the ventilation for my 1st grow closet. I completed hardwiring a new 20 amp circuit and testing it and have installed the light.
