First Grow, Suggestions?

I recently got my medical card and I'm looking into setting up a small grow for 2-5 plants. I am not trying to do anything outrageous, just enjoy a bit of gardening and try to turn out some decent bud. Anyone have any suggestions on things such as soil/hydro, nutrients, materials, etc.? Any links to set up guides or posting anything on here would be much appreciated. I'm trying to have a pretty good set up for my first time I'd like to start off with a successful crop.

First of all I'd suggest getting at least a 600 watt system.
Second of all I'd suggest you try hydro, its less forgiving if you forget to water but its straight forward follow the schedule type deal.

Basics:
first 2 weeks the plant lives off the cotyledons, the first set of leafs. So theres no need to fertilize for the first 2 weeks. After that go 1/4 the strength they say to do for 2 weeks. Then slowly work your way up to full strength over the next week or two.

thanks, i'm thinking about ordering a grow tent anyone have suggestions on what size i would need for a 2-4 plant hydro set up?

I have no grow experience with tents but I believe the smallest one will be able to do 2-4 plants. Post which one you're looking at.

Nice prices! Do they include a spot for an inline fan? If so I was in the market for a grow tent and I would buy one of those setups IF it has a spot for an inline fan

EDIT: I suggest original poster refrain from buying it if it has no exhaust. That way you can hook up a carbon scrubber.

im not sure, it looks like it has multiple slots on the sides of the tent to put fans or exhaust tubes etc in

Yea I think those are the intake/outtakes. I think this is who I'm buying my kit from. 600 watt mh/hps system

screw all that shit just do outdoor y waste money on synthetic lighting when they grow better under the sun if u dont wanna do anything outragous and ur doin a small grow u dnt need a grow tent . ur not gonna have to worry about cops finding ur 2-5 plants from the sky. and ur gonna save a shitload doin it ur only gonna have to buy some decent potting soil, some pots to put it in and and maybe some nutes,

not everybody can do that. I live in the prairies where its all flat land and no trees. No place to do it close to me and I don't own any land.
