First Grow Questions?

Ive started to germ some seeds, and i have 2 questions.
1. which way should the little root face when i put it in soil? Up? or down?
2. how can i keep my plant from growing too high, im just growing this first time to test the water, so its only 2 plants. IMG_0508[1].jpg

The picture is my little seed :eyesmoke: im gonna let em germ for another day i think

any tips you guys have would be awesome too
 
Put the root facing down and don't cover it with to much soil so it can break through. As for keeping them small. Use a small pot and or look up "low stress training". That seed is ready to be planted now by the way. Good luck MAyNE.
 
Yeah root going down first. If you mean keeping the seedling short try to keep it as close as you can to the light source.

Im using 3: 26 watt CFL's, it was the cheap way to go
each one has 1750 lumens (what it says on the box) and they are 6500k for the veg, then im going to switch to the same wattage but 2700 k for budding,
is that about right for 2 plants?
 
Yeah it's ok while there young but you are going to need a lot more I mean a lot more CFL's for two plants. I got away with using 4 23w bulbs for one auto flowering plant which only get about a foot tall.
 
well im really planning on one of the plants being male, in which case il just kill it, but if its 2 girls il give one to my friend and tryna get more light
