First grow questions/opinions

This is my first attempt at this so bear with me.... So far everything seems to look pretty good. I started both of these in miracle grow(I know I know) and the one in hydro was looking in poor health with its first two set of leaves so I transferred it to the ebb and flo hydro system. The plants growth was stunted for 4 weeks and then it finally took root and started. Ever since it started the leaves have been VERY pale green. I have been adding small amounts of floralicious grow organic base enhancer. I'm not even sure if this is the right type of stuff to use.

So the one that is still in soil has had very dense growth and always looked pretty healthy. The lower dense growth that gets less light always look curled and a little wilted. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Also leaves at the bottom of the plant have dried out on the tips and a few have turned completely yellow and fell off. What do you guys think?

EDIT: Thank you very much, the first round of comments was helpfull. I am adding new pictures in dim incandescent lighting. Maybe this will help give some more insight. Everything look OK? The one leaf pictured has some type of deficiency obviously, seems like it should be easily identifiable to a trained eye....

overall setup look ok? bulbs too far? 400w mh for veg, currently 400w mh and 400w hps, probably going to shut the MH off if that sounds OK?

Edit #2:
I finally solved my roots sitting in standing water in the tray. Is this root rot or just stain from the nutrients?

you definatley need to feed but make sure you don't overdo it. go to a hydro shop and get some one part nutes like supernatural or general hydroponics. use about half the recommended amount of feed. try feeding your soil plants from the bottom, just put your mild nutrient/water solution in the tray and let the soil soak it up, this will promote rigorous root growth and you should see your plants thrive in less than two weeks.

Whenever MG is mentioned you will hear that it is not the best. You can search the site and people have grown with MG and had sucessful results. I am using MG my first time but I have to admit that I've been recruited and signed up for something other than MG for my next grow. This was my test grow to get an idea of what it took to grow so I used pretty much what I had on hand, and I had MG regular and for blooms. I have already purchased FoxFarm 3 pack for the next grow, only because "they" say that it's better than MG for my plants, quality and yield.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

you need some acutal nutes.. they are hungry!!!

also how often do you water?
The hydro setup is watering 4 times a day on even intervals. At first I had it 15 on 15 off! The soil I have had a very hard time figuring out water frequency and amount. Initially I was way over watering but now I have cut back to every 4 days or so. Sometimes as long as a week after a heavy watering.

The plants are about 10 weeks old and I just switched to 12 12 about 5 days ago. Do I need to get the nutes up before flowering or am I ok to just start feeding now? I have floranova bloom 4 8 7 is that good? Also so is the grow enhancer not the same as nutes? I noticed it is 1 .5 .5 when I picked it up I thought the numbers just represented the ratio not the concentration. Not true?

Also, the ppm in the reservoir was only 250 during most of veg. My water has a lot of chlorine so I have been using 'spring water' from walmart. With the floranova bloom the ppm is now around 900.

How about this? The roots have been sitting in standing water in the bottom of the tray. I finally came up with a system to get them out of the water but am having trouble deciding if that is root root or just 'stained' from the nutrients in the water.
