First grow problems...

So theres a few problems with my plants here. My large ones leaves are now curling downwards. The bottom sun leaves are yellowing/browning and curling up.

My smallest plants leaves are making funny shapes.

And my medium one seems to be ok so far.

Im using Miracle grow PH balanced soil with its own nutes added. I dont add any nutes myself. Other than the miracle grow all I have used is Worm castings. The plants were under alot of heat stress last week as the box I was using had poor ventilation. I have had them in a new box now for almost a week and since then they are looking bad. Temps were at 40C. last week this week they are stable at 25-27C and humidity is around 50%.

Last time I checked the PH it was just below 6.

I would take the worm castings out only i mixed them in the soil and on top.

The plants were growing fine in the mircale grow for the last few weeks until now. I dont know what the problem is. I check the soltions thread but all the problems look the same to me. Any advice someone?

I forgot to say when I water. Ive been watering when I can put my finger in the soil up to my first knuckle for the small plant and when i can get it up to my second knuckle for the large pots without feeling moisture. And I only water until there is run-off

By the looks of it and from some of the things i have read your problem seems to be magnesium deficiency...

i would say it looks like nute lockout bro...but your ph is at below 6 you say? cause i use the standard cheap MG soil myself that feeds up to 3 months and i dont have any nute problems during veg. i would say get a PH tester make sure u water is at 5.5 - 6 and flush that bitch out

ive tested the PH and it was just shy of 6. and the only nutes used were in the soil itself.

thanks, one of the pictures shown looks almost exactly like my problems. funny shaped leaves and yellowing turning to browning. Now ill try to make sense of the solution and give an update asap. thanks buddy!

not a problem... i dont have too any grows under my belt to know any quick and easy fixers but i have used that as a resource many times and its has helped out a lot... hopefully all works out for you

the problem is working its way p the plant. its nearly at the top. I think im going to try cutting the top half of the plant. about 3 nodes down. i dont think i can save the soil im using. i dont have rooting hormone. so im going to go get some willow tree cuttings later after work. then ill make some hormone and do the cutting. hoptfully its not too late by then...

good luck cloneing im pullin for ya...i would still try putting like a gallon of PHd watter on her to help flush out all the salts that could be blocking the root from getting nutes.

below 6 is kinda acidic. Try adding some wood ashes. But it takes time to raise ph though.

went to walmart and got some rooting hormone. took 3 cuttings from her. 2 from the first nodes, one off of the top. pics below. I repotted the small thai stick in the bottom corner of the box by itself. when i took it out i realized it was constricted with roots. hopefully its not too stressed out and bounces back. im going to keep the mother of the clones even though the upper leaves have brown spots all over them. Im sure it was a mixture of the miracle grow medium and the worm castings. the worm castings had glacier chips or something in it. too many nutes i suppose.

The clones and other 2 plants (thai stick and younger kush) were replanted with soil with nothing in it. no nutes anyways. the smaller kush is lookin great and heres for the best for those clones! round two... FIGHT!

To me your problems are the the soil.
MG soil is too damn potent.
Your plants look over nuted.
That clawing and yellowing/browning of the leaves is classic nute burn.
PH for soil should be between 6.5 - 7.0 for a soil grow.
Flushing probably wont solve the problem.
Repot into some of that non-nuted soil you used for the clones and water in with PH correct water. Make sure you get rid of as much of that MG shit as possible without disturbing the roots. Use a larger pot.
Use liquid nutes from then on.
Slow release ferted soil is no good. MJ is a quick growing plant and requires different nutes for veg and bloom.

the roots were too far into the MG soil to eplant. so i took cuttings and planted those in regular soil. hope they make it

i dunno bro Mg never did me wrong and from what iv read in soil the plant (for the most part) will only take what it needs so regular phd watering should be fine with MG or any soil, i for one understand why its calld "Miralce"grow and dont get all the haters...

I'm sure there are people who have success with it like yourself, but I've seen so many posts related to MG soil and nute burn, plus I just don't think that slow release ferts are suitable for growing MJ.
I'm a hydro grower though so what would I know about soil. :grin:

i dunno bro im just sayin that i bet 100% of the cases your talking about were inexperienced grower doing something stupid and the problem was nothing to do with the soil...

just to stop the arguement. it is the soil. my other plants have been replanted in a regular soil and they are doing much better than the larger one. the problem EXACTLY was when i added the worm castings. they had been mixed with natural nutes. the problem was nute burn.

I agree on many of your points.
I think through trial and error we all acquire a certain knowledge surrounding the success we experience using different grow mediums, nutrients, lighting, methods etc.
In other words; experience is a factor with all grows.
Definitely stick with what works for you. :bigjoint:
