Me and my buddy went and got some clones from the shop...

got 2 Sunburst 400W HPS/MH Convertible

Got a fan pumping in clean air and a bathroom fan i got from hd pumping out the hot air. so it pretty well vented..

there in Foxfarm Ocean Forest Soil..
also have the FoxFarm nutrients
in 5 gallon hb buckets..

Our grow room is five and a half feet by 7 feet so about 24" all around

Im looking for any info i can get to help turn this grow room into a nice harvest...

i want to black tarp some part of it to turn it into a two stage room to have a constent cycle..

i plan on posting pics soon, but any input to what i may need or what i can get setup here please. any help would be great.

I have there water sit over 24 hours before useing it. also i have a fish pump in it, to help give it oxygen...
there on a 18 and 6 cycle atm...
any info missing pls ask. or any input pls give...

how many plants would fit and grow a nice yield under what i got... etc.

hey man, I have that EXACT same convertible ballast, it's awesome. real heavy, but incredibly reliable and well built. I would suggest you get the lens for it - basically just a piece of glass that fits beneath the bulb. If you have the lens and the additional hood cooler (air) you can do a good job minimizing temps. I have the cooler hooked up to a 4'' exhaust duct going outside my cab. I will say when I kick it into HPS with a good bulb it gets H-O-T.

Thanks. dont have the lens but will get..

How many plants can 2 of these grow to the point where i still get a good yield off them

Depending on your goals 1sf per plant should be good. That will get you nice colas but if you want alot of alternate bud sights I would spread them out a bit and scrog them. I have 10 SF and I load it right up and grow 12/12 from seed and it seems pretty dense but I am fairly new so I am still fine tuning. Nice set-up though Bug.

one thing you should keep in mind is that when you transplant into fox farm oceans forest soil you should flush. in fact you get really good tasting bud and good results if you water 3 gallons of soil with 1 gallon of water. I grow 9 plants under each 1,000 watt and pull 18 zips a light. I would try 8 plants and see how you do. If you can I would buy an exhaust fan the humidity might get a little high with the bathroom fan

Right now i have 8 OG plat, 4 Hindu Kush, 2 Bubba Kush, 2 L.A. Confidential, 1 Lavender, 1 Cherry AK. and one Soma A+..

The 8 OG and 4 Hindu Kush are about a month in, in 5 gallon pots...

The Cherry AK and Lavender are only about 2 weeks in but in 5 gallon as well there pretty huge already...

The 2 Bubba's and 2 LA's are in 3 gallon pots and there about 2 weeks as well..

my Soma A+ is about 3 days old from a clone at the shop and in a 3 gallon now as well and growing nice and strong now..

The 5 gallon hd buckets are about 1"X1" feet

Think ill need a 3rd 400w hps? i have a 3rd just needs new bulb...

Please any feedback would be great..

What kinda temp's should i be looking for in my grow room day / night temps..

Hey man, I'm not scrogging, but I've got stakes propping up plants to condense them under the light

I've got five going now, I kind of wish it was four. I had six but one turned out to be male, and thank god. But check out my grow journal in the sig, they are all doing pretty fantastic.

I have the LA Woman (Romulan x LA confidential) and those are some fantastic genetics. started to crystal up at day 12-14 of flower

I would say four big plants (vegged to 24") or up to ten small ones, lollipopped and flowered at 12'', per light

Nice journal ill have to get my own up and going soon!

Few thoughts here. First, have you got a pest control spray that works on spider mites or whatever other nasty happens to be common in your part of the country? You're going to want to do preventative sprays every so often (stuff i use is weekly) to keep them from ever getting established on your plants.
Second, do you have some form of humidity control? Not sure what your local norm is, but you're going to want to be able to run levels between 25-60% depending on where you're at in the plants lifecycle.

No, What kind of spray could i use that wont harm the plant and when should i start to use this / how offten.. i have a ph tester for soil witch test light and moisture, where can i get one for humidity?

Im thinking of buying:
http://www.igrowhydro.com/detail.aspx?ID=6614

x2 for 585$ is that a good deal and would this be better for my room? thanks

holy shit yes, that is a great price

However, this is your first grow. You will make mistakes. You may break things. You may not get a decent crop for a long time after misstarts, accidents, etc.

I would take it easy at first, unless you have someone growing with you who has tons of experience, but then why would you be asking us?

Don't start off your first time with two thousand watt lights... that is big time, and who knows if you might get caught. Over 1000 and you begin to really worry about

1. smell
2. heat and heat exhaust
3. noise
4. serious electricity drain, with noticeable spikes on your bill

Keep it small until you know what you're doing. The heat issue is a huge one. Each one of those lights requires at least 500-1000 CFM blowers to keep cool, on top of whatever AC you are hopefully running this summer. You have no idea what you are getting into. I think even one 600 is a lot to handle until you get it dialed in. safety first

sorry for the double post, I haven't gotten down this multiquote thing

anyway

agreed about humidity control

in terms of spider mites all you have to do is mist them once or twice a day with water while in veg. they hate water

Then keep your active charcoal scrubber on during flower (never mist during flower - might get bud rot)

youll be fine unless you get infected clones from someone
