Hi all, I'm a little confused
I have two outdoor females both about 3ft tall and i think they are flowering
They both have short white hairs coming from most of the growing tips
Is this the flower stage? will they start to bud anytime soon?

also i see alot of people doing 12/12 hour cycle should i do this for my outdoor plants cover them with something or let nature take its course?

any help is appreciated

Hey man. You're doing pretty damn good so far if you've got two 3 ft tall females outside- congrats!

What is the natural light cycle currently? You can look it up online to get it more precise. Where are you located?

If you can post some pictures, then we can confirm that it is female and that it's healthy and everything. If those white hairs are what you think they are, then yes, you are in the first or second week of flowering. In that case, you can probably just let nature take its course (if it started flowering naturally, I doubt it will suddenly stop). 12/12 generally refers to indoors, but some people do it outdoors to force flower.

Thanks for the quick reply kilik

i will be adding some pictures soon
the light cycle here is around 14light /10dark

would forcing them to flower instead of letting them grow naturally reduce my overall yield?

also does tying down branches to produce more growing spots increase overall yield? if so does this slow down the plants flower growth?

sorry for all the questions:neutral:

they are best left to their own devices at the pre-flowering and flowering stage, so personally i would not mess with them.

yse increased bud sites will mean an increase in yield , but as you rightly said this will lengthen the flowering period.

Yea the natural flowering seems all good for you. 14/10 should work...or at least it seems to be in your case. Are you getting longer sun hours in the next few months, or shorter?

You do want to prune them in some way. There are many methods that work fine. Although, you're supposed to prune in the veg state, as far as I know, so it's a bit late for that. If you have 3 footers outside where they get lots of sun, then DO NOT worry about yield. If the rest of the grow goes well, you'll end up with more pot than you know what to do with. Therefore, I think it'd be a better use of your time to worry about nutes, watering, etc. At this point, proper nutes, water, and sunshine are the things that are gonna make your plants amazing.

Also, are they in the ground, or in pots, or grow bags? And where the hell are you? southern hemisphere, or just somewhere nice and warm?

i only have a 2mp camera

so its hard to see the white hairs on the normal one you can slightly see them on the topped one

also light hours are going down where i live

ty for all the replys

they aren't the biggest but i cant expect the best with my current experience

The pictures are decent; the lighting makes them kinda tough to see, actually, with the shade vs. sun contrast. The plants look good, but not very full. I do see the white hairs though, especially in the topped one as you mentioned. Answer these questions for me:

1) What soil are you using?
2) Are you using any nutrients?
3) How big are those pots?
4) How often are you watering?

Oh and what's up with the green strings? I've never heard of that as a way to get better yield, but I guess it could be. I know that if you bend the top cola over with a string, it will make it stop growing up and get bushier instead, which can help yield. But again, yield outside is usually phenomenal. Good growers with good plant genetics get a lb per plant easily (but don't expect nearly that much for a first grow).

1.Just a cheap soil no brand stuff

2.seaweed plant food n4.60 p1.20 k3.10 and dutchmaster grow i cant remember its npk

3. i know the normal ones pot is big enough for the plant like 10-12 litre i used half a bag of soil and the topped one is in a small pot 2-4 litre or so I'm thinking on re potting it if that will help it to grow out more

4. every 2-3days

the green strings have helped a little I've noticed 2 more growing tips on each side in 3days

Ok well you seem like you're fine with those nutes and soil, so that's all good. 2-4 L is waaaay too small; I'm amazed it's done that well. Transplant it to 10-12 L at least. If you have the space/height then you could transplant both plants to 5 Gallon buckets (19 L), which would be awesome. But be careful: that could lead to 5 ft tall plants, which are not very stealthy. If you can though, you could end up with some real monsters.

I think you should water more like every 4 days. That's not exact, but the important thing is to make sure that the soil is drying out before you water again (you want air to get to the roots). Does that make sense? 2-3 days may be fine if it's drying out very quickly, but I think 4 days is more common.

do these plants grow better in a hot environment? i have another two which are tied down & have nice dark green leaves but i keep them in a shed in front of a mirror under a sun roof this shed is really hot inside would moving my other plants in there make them healthier?

Um I can't imagine that there's enough light from that system to grow successfully. So the ones in the shed currently look healthier than the ones outside???

I would keep them the way they are and see what gets better results. I would think that the shed would be terrible from lack of light and lack of ventilation (much less CO2 and air movement). Are the plants the same strain, age, pot size, etc.? The only thing that the shed might have, as you said, is better temperatures for sativas, which generally like it hotter. Your plants don't look like pure Sativas, but they certainly aren't Indicas either...hybrid, I guess.
