Im making this thread to show all of you my DWC set up and a bit of progress from my plants.
My cuttings arrived on Saturday morning (10th, Sep, 2011), they came when i was still in the process of building my room.
To keeps the cuttings alive i put them under 1 400W Grolux bulb in a small closet i have, the cuttings were in 1inch x 1inch Rockwool cudes so i had to keep them moist, i used a small syringe to spray a very weak nute solution (Canna Hydro A+B) onto the Rockwool cubesthe light was approximately 30 inch away (was scared of burning the plant)
The cuttings were fine in there for about two days but by Monday night the cuttings had started drooping and the leaves had started curling up, this point i realized i had been over watering them and they didn't like it ! i soon fixed this problem !

Ok so i'm going to leave my cuttings out for a bit and going to concentrate a bit on my grow room.
This room im really really proud of bear in mind this is my first ever indoor grow ! The idea started out when a spare room in my house was just getting filled full of rubbish and junk ! i decided it needed to be put to better use
.I cleared the room completely except a few useful thing i could fine i found two rotating fans and a few extension leads for all the electrics.
After i had scavenged through all the stuff and threw the rest away i got to work preparing the floor, as i was using water i wanted to make it a bit waterproof, so i nailed hardboard to the floor this was just a back up incase i dropped water to stop it going through the floor boards.
After the floor was finished i set to work building a frame work i layed a square on the floor (8' x 8') of wood and placed 4 corners and then 4 between all 4 corners.
Pictures anot too clear but u kinda get a idea of what im on about. once all of this was up i brought some special plasterboard called vapor board, it basically just has a silver film on one side here's a few pictures of it been put up.

at this point i was super excited ! we finished putting all this up on the Monday night.Tuesday morning the plants were still looking unhappy ! so the room had to be finished, so me and my dad got back to building the room we built two bars across the roof for the lights, fans ect...
Once these were up there was a few finishing touches we had to do, we sealed every single hole where light was coming through with a filler and then taped over and cracks etc... the room is completely silver ! except from the roof was a bit pushed for time i wanted them cuttings in my setup !! we pushed a hole through for electrics and that was it the room was finished it had a door and was super shiny !
Guess its time for my setup.
Again as a first time hydro grower i didn't really no much, iv been researching it for ages now ! and i designed my own DWC setup again I'm really pleased about it and it seems to be working GREAT !
I got 4 90 Liter big square buckets, and 4, 2.5 liter pots which had holes in them not totally sure what there called and i think there 2.5 liter ? anyway i set them up with two pieces of wood over the big bucket that holds the small buckets over the water, once this was done i place my pumps into the bottoms and measured them up to see how much pipe i needed, i made a sort of halo around where the plants are going to be placed to give them water shooting at all sides, once the pumps were in i got my aeration balls and placed them in the bottom under the pot.
Now that was all set up it was time to get the lights in place, i used chain to hang the lights which is going to make it easy for height adjustment the ballasts are outside the room to try keep the room cool, there 400w lights with a Grolux bulb in each of them, im waiting on some money to buy a few extra lights and metal halide bulbs, im planning on having at least 1 light per plant in each corner of the room but for now two Grolux should do fine i think, ill also be switching to HPS bulbs in the flowering period.

As you can see the plants have perked up a lot ! and have grew quite a bit, these pictures were took the second day they were in the room and im pretty surprised at the growth !

I never realized the lights got so hot until i put the on in that small room to keep them cuttings ! i figured the priority was to try and get some cool air into the room seeing as where i live its pretty cool her i figured i didn't need a Air conditioning unit, i used what i had ! i had a small fan which my dad used for his paint spraying room there was a vent in the room which was in a handy spot just behind my room, i put the fan in to the plaster board and used a piece of plastic pipe which leads to the other end of this vent, The fan was pushing in cold air ! I'm pretty good at this money saving stuff
OK so i have cool air blowing in next i needed to start pushing it around the room i put a fan in front of the pipe as u can see to force the cool air towards the lights and around the room, the room was still a bit still so i needed a bit more movement of the air so i used my other fan
OK so two is enough for now i think if your wondering why i haven't got a extraction fan yet is i don't have no money ! i figure i don't really need one until they start smelling ??
