First Grow: In need of some advice and general look-over

Finally started my very own grow about two months ago (a little less) and I'm to the point where it appears I need advice specific to my plants (rather than continuously searching the threads). I understand that you can veg for as long as you feel is necessary before going to flower, but I would like to get some opinions from everyone as to how much longer I should wait. Also, I'd like to know if my very improvised set-up will be efficient enough. All five of my plants are from bag seed, so I have no idea what they are, or if they are Male or Female. My guess is that it is still far to early to tell, but with you all being the experts, I decided to get some close-up stem pics of the Four plants that seem to be growing at the same pace (my smallest plant in the picture was planted at the same time as the rest, but seems to be taking her good ol' time getting anywhere). Everyone seems to confirm that my plants will DOUBLE in size when they are moved into flower, and as space and lighting are limited, I'm really interested in when you would suggest the light change. They are all between 13-14 inches tall (minus the little one), and three of the four are getting very branchy. Any advice, trimming, nutes, lights, watering, I mean ANY ADVICE, is welcome! ((First Picture is the complete Closet Grow, the following pics will be the four big plants as the appear from the left to the right.))

Ok I'm a newbie just a little further along than you by a harvest or two. Your plants look good. Me personally if I were you I'd take clones and flip them now. I flip mine between 6 and 12 inches right now. I produce smaller easier to manage plants. I'm not good enough or strong enough to grow trees, yet.

Right now I have a Kosher Kush that quadrupled it's height! It's in it's second week of flower. So anyway your first time with a plant clone it and then flower it conservatively. You might be surprised (god knows I was).

Let me add one more thing, pre-flowers, it's nice to wait for those (4 to 6 weeks veg roughly). That signals a seedlings maturity and willingness to flower. However I have a bunch of strains to go through this year so everyone is going 12/12 as soon as they hit 6 to 8 inches. I'm just watching extra closely for herms.

Thanks for the advice Curious. I have been considering grabbing some clones, but I've been waiting to confirm the sexes. No sense cloning a male and wasting more time and supplies. My biggest fear right now is that I have four males and one female. The opinions seem to be split right down the middle on which grows faster, but if my tiny plant is an indication that males grow faster I AM SCREWED! Lulz. If any of them are female, though, they should be some AWESOME plants, Three of them now have a strong four-way top and one of them looks like I may have gotten it to split six ways.

It actually makes perfect sense at your stage to clone a male. It will give you practice! Get those clones and flip those plants and then simply toss the males and the clones of the males if you don't wish to have a male. But realize that bag seed can sometimes turn into some really good 'stuff' when grown with care.

Here's what I do if I'm not sure about cuttings. I take the cuttings, toss them in a cup of water and then in a week or so I put them in my cloner if I want them. So that's another way LOL.

Oh and males grow and flower faster, they have to be ready for the females or so the books say. I found from my own experience that my runt had the best high so I'm looking at runts differently now! LOL I wasn't expecting that one. My huge vigorous plant was the one I was really looking forward to and she came out like hemp but made great concentrate.

I'd be LSTing and bending those plants over personally. If you got 4 dominant tops on a plant bend them to grow out like spokes on a wheel. Works great.

I read a little bit about LST when my plants were still really young, and from that combined some basic bonsai techniques by carefully tending to each leaf and branch, bending them how I wanted them to stretch and grow. I love the idea of pinwheeling my tops, I'm going to try that on at least two immediately! I pretty much refuse to cut any leaf or branch whatsoever from them though. Just a personal choice to watch them grow as naturally as can be allowed. Most of my nutes are homemade, I carry large buckets of fresh spring water for them twice a week, yeast carbon bombs spaced all throughout, rich ash treatments... Everything I've been able to think of to reduce cost while preserving the natural growing. This is part of the reason I haven't taken any clones... I've made a total 1 cut per plant! Lol.

i love kosher kush this your first time round with it?

They look good and unless you want to get a lot of additional lighting, I think you should make the flip! Flip..Flip...Flip..Flip..Flip!!!

If you have a place to veg it on the side for a cpl more weeks, why not. You seem to be getting good penetration with your set up, and they really will blow up like everybody says when you do flip. Good luck!
