First Grow, Fucking Hermie.

Grrrr First grow, and it was a hermie. I have 3 from the same bag, same age, I hope this was a stress thing, not a strain thing. This one I topped at the second node, then again on the 4th after that, letting 2 of the lower branches catch up. It had 6 tops. Topping on the second was a bad idea, it stunted the plant badly when it was very very small. I started flowering a week and a half ago. The other two are too early to tell. I didnt top the one at all, and started 12/12 day before yesterday. The third, I topped at the 4th, and topped the new shoots almost immediately. I now have it pinned down so all 4 tops are pointing out like a compass, it's coming along nicely.

Hopefully, these other two will make it, otherwise I'm screwed. All I have, are some more 3 day sprouts from the same bud, and 3 bag seeds from an unknown strain I got from a friend. Those 3 all cracked, and are now in soil. Fingers crossed.

Well, I got probably a bowl worth of flowers drying on the hash tray, we will see if they get me high tomorrow. Timing is good, off probation tomorrow, they should be dry enough by 4:20.:joint:

I've heard that bag seeds produce a lot of hermies, reason being that it is usually caused by a plant that hermied, and this means the rest of those seeds will be hermies to, that's why there's usually only a few seeds in each bud where as you would have a ton if they were bred male female, the hermies don't produce as many balls and less pollen, therefore less seeds. Also, the reason why hermies always produce hermy seeds is bc a. it doesn't have the genetics to produce a male, only the male pollen can make male seeds b. the plant realizes that there are no males around to pollinate her, therefore the new seeds will also have to be hemies in order to survive.

My first six seeds ended up 2 male, 3 hermie, and one beautiful pheno female. I'm figuring my issue was just weak genetics... But at least I got one nice pheno

Hard to tell really. Could have been outdoor, could have been intentional, who knows? Lots of threads on here asking if a plant was male or female too, some people just don't know.

Hey, look at the bright side. I got a lot of experience growing it, and it gave me time to work out problems like soil, nutrients, light leaks, and so on.

I'm not trying to be a dick here, not at all, I just don't want you to waste your time bro, those seeds are hermies, that is how those seeds got in the bud, it wasn't intentional bc if it was those buds would've been torn a part and the seeds collected, then they prob would've made hash and oil with the bud, if it was outdoor the males would've been chopped long before they released their pollen. brimck's post is a rhetorical question, both he and bruvvamoff know how those seeds got there, hermy. Those seeds are already hardwired to hermy, that dna code that say's become a hermaphrodite is already turned on. This is what's gonna happen, I would bet every last dime I got on it, your gonna hatch those 3 seeds and they're all gonna be female, you're gonna say wow, 4 seeds 4 females, what are the odds of that, fact is they were all hermies to begin with. That wasn't a theory it actually is the truth, if you want to grow hermies that's fine, but if you want to grow sensimilia I would highly suggest you get your seeds from a reputable seed bank.

Yes it is true that stress can cause hermies, that's bc the plant believes it is in a hostile environment and that throws the plant into survival mode, the plant is afraid that it will die before it gets the chance to be pollinated, so it hermies in order to ensure that the seeds are produced ASAP, if it does not get stressed then the plant doesn't worry too much about survival and it just grows sensimilia.

I'd bet you're right.

I got 3 bag seeds from a friend and they sprouted, and then I went on CL and got a pair of C-99 clones. Hopefully, I'll have better luck this go around. My credit is past max, so it will be a while before I can make a seed bank order.

I was thinking about keeping one of them in veg, and using it as a mother, while flowering the other, to get some smoke.

Oh ReallY?

I suggest you do a little more research into breeding and Feminised seeds my friend :weed:

Femenized seeds are made by spraying the plants with colloidal silver, not by isolating a hermie, there are seedbanks who sell hermy seeds, they tell you this before you purchase, or at least they should. I've only grown twice but I know a few veterans and have learned a lot from them. I plan on using the colloidal method this fall.

Ya that's a good plan, if I get a room set up this is probably what I'll do to, that way you know you've got a strong mother and she'll produce good clones.

Just wanted to add here, just so people can be sure about this hermy thing, there is a reason why seedbanks isolate the hermy to produce hermy seeds, there are a few seedsbanks that explain this process to you, they don't want the hermy passing on the hermy genetics to other females who aren't hermies, they use the non-hermy plants to produce regular and feminized seeds, and isolate the hermies to produce hermy seeds. There are some people who want hermies, that's bc they are not connoisseurs who absolutely need the best of the best, they know that the hermy will continue to pass the hermy genes on and so they will always have bud, just not the best of the best, so in that sense they are not worthless.
