First Grow & First Post. Rubbermaid Grow Box

      • first grow. I had a similar idea to yours. I am using 2 CFL's combining for a total of 3200 lumens. My lights are placed in the first drawer in the plastic dresser. I have a rectangle cut out on the bottom of the drawer (centered) and a box like object with lights inside have been placed over the cut out. The lights stick half an inch into the rubbermaid container bellow. The rubbermaid does have a lid on for stealth purposes BUT the entire surface area of the lid has been cut out allowing the lights to come directly in to the plastic dresser. The plastic dresser is a perfect fit for the rubbermaid container! I have a air intake/outtake option that I can use up to 8-9 hours daily. The house I live in ac/heat unit has a nice little fan option on the control thermostat. I made a nice air vent cover shaped cut out on the bottom of the rubbermaid container. I simply move the container over any air vent to allow air in when I turn the fans on from the thermostat. My outtake works by sliding the plastic dresser 1-2 inches backwards or forwards. This alows the air from the air vent to circulate a little and pass right out of the container. The plant on the right is about 40 hours in from sprouting. The plant on the left is about 12 hours in from sprouting. The plant on the right is 1-2 inches away from the CFL above it, the plant on the left is 2-3 inches away from the CFL above it. As the girls (i hope) get taller they will move into the first shelf of the plastic dresser (cutting out the bottom of first drawer. Second drawer will have the same light design as first drawer did, more than likely will not let the plants get any taller so it doesn't have to advance another draw. I plan to Top the plants, pinch, and bending branches to keep them smaller and to promote budding. I also think I will be cutting some of the leaves I am not sure about that yet? Something like from _\|/_ to just .\./. or _..._ or maybe even ..|.. My goal is to keep the plants short while trying the best I can do to maximize the bud growth. This is a Stealth operation! Praying to God that these are females of course and if not I will be throwing them out and planting two more. Note better pictures to come! P.S my first post on the site and this site looks as dank as I hope my buds are going to be. I'm dreaming big so this site is the DANKEST!

Hello there! Always happy that this community spreads out. Nice start. Couple things I noticed. Don't use transparent pots. this is MJ not Orchid :) roots have to be in dark. And you mentioned that plants will grow in next drawer as they get taller. Is it transparent too or you covered it that there are no light leaks - can't tell from pic? Plants have to have complete darkness period. Light leaks can cause them to develop as hermies.
