First Grow, Couple of Questions.

Hi, this is my first grow and I have a couple of questions.

First of all I am growing in a closet under 6 23w 3000k CFL. (I will be hopefully purchasing a HID HPS within a few weeks.)

Strain is bagseed from a good smoke.

Plants are 7 days old from sprouting from dirt.

One of the plants is a runt, and the others seem okay, but the leaves seem yellow, why?

Lastly, is this normal size for a week old? And, do the CFL's need to be any closer? I had them closer and the leaves started curling upward, so I backed them off.

Any help is appreciated, so thanks in advance!:peace:

Well, thanks for all the replies :?. Anyway my seedlings are growing slowly and are on their 3rd leaf set. I have since replaced the CFL's with a 400w HPS HID from htgsupply, I will be using a 400w MH conversion bulb as soon as it gets here.

If anyone cares to reply I will upload new pics of the seedlings, which are more yellow... I need some advice about that!

I have a ventilation system that is keeping the room at 82*F currently, Is that the cause of yellowing leaves and slow growth?

How much did that light setup cost? I'm using CFLs at the moment but am thinking of a cross over to HPS/MH. Check out my first grow. Keep up the good work and you will get some killer buds. You using any nutes for them ? What light cycle are they on? Not sure if you already answered these i will check after i post : D :joint:

deff look good standing by this subscribing!! =) there was a cpl that were lookin leggy but i think the light you upgraded to has already stopped that yea and more info would be great ph,light,temp,soil etc?? as for the cfl deal if your still wondering? is the lights need to be much closer with those cfls like ide say to be safe maybe 2inches away from leaves!! =) well lookin foward to this happy grows it!! =) Smoke =One!! =)

Welcome to RIU. :weed:

One thing you should know about RIU is, most people that are on these boards really don't know what the hell their talking about when it comes to growing.

When it comes to smoking or talking about stupid crap that doesn't matter you'll get dozens of replies.

Your seedling looks very healthy.
Don't over water it.
Keep a humidity dome over it until you get at least 2 sets of true leaves.
Spray the inside of the dome with water 3-4 times a day, to keep the humidity levels up there.
Hopefully you purchased a bulb with a blue light spectrum.
Blue light promotes shorter, stouter stems, which is what you want during vegetative growth.

Good Luck.

I wanted to add one thing.
You might want to get yourself a bottle of Olivia's cloning solution.
Olivia's work's great in the early seedling stage.
For the first dose, mix it at half strength.
Or if you have TDS meter make sure it's not more than 200 Ppm's.
This will help your seedling move along a little quicker and give them
the nitrogen that it needs.

Jump Start from Advanced Nutrients works great too.

I bought it from htgsupply.com for $234 shipped. No nutes yet, but probably soon. Light cycle is 18/6. Thanks for replying.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah the HPS has already helped tremendously. pH is a 6-7 now so slightly acidic, but not much. My light setup is the nice brand new 400w HPS HID on 18/6, but will be MH when I buy the conversion bulb in a few days. Not going to be using the CFL's now. Peace.

Lol, well thanks for the heads up. I'll see if I can find a dome for them. I have a MH conversion bulb on it's way to me right now and I will put it in as soon as possible. They messed up my order at htg so that's why I am temporarily using the HPS. Main thing I have been worried about is the yellowness, I have been told that it is poor soil quality or nitrogen deficiency. I'll give them another week before I give nutes and see if it improves. Don't get me wrong they look good, but I really hate the yellowing leaves... Anyway thanks for the help.

Since I got some replies I will keep this thread updated as much as I possibly can with new high quality photographs, and trust me I will be on here a lot since I am such a noob. Thanks for the help all.

you dont need a conversion bulgb you can run a mh bulb in a hps ballast so just go get your self a mh bulb bro and you good to grow and mh bulbs run hotter so more air flow is needed

It's a 400w. I already have the conversion bulb ordered so it's too late for that, oh well. Yeah it is 18/6. I hope MH isn't too much hotter than HPS cause I'm already operating at 83F :o

That's it. My grow op is finished. The police just left my house. My fucking sister was having problems with her boyfriend AGAIN! And they were asking me if they could search my house. I said NO. He found a street sign in my back yard that was here since I lived here and asked me if there were more in the house, STREET SIGNS lol, fucking idiot cops. Any way, he ask me if I was sure there wasn't any METH labs in my house, I lol'd at him and told him no. He said he would be back tomorrow with a search warrant and was going to tear my house apart. I decided it wasn't worth the risk and destroyed my baby girls :cry::cry::cry:. It makes me sick. I will let you know if they are able to get a search warrant and search my house for meth and street signs, lol. Later guys.

Damnit I know man, my girls where looking hot too, coming on strong. :cry: Well it's 4:40 pm and no search warrant yet. Fuckin sucks man.

No search warrant was conducted. Damn shit, I wish I'd have never pulled them up. Oh well. I'm on to bigger an better things. Same setup, but with white widow from Nirvana!

Hey dude. Feel your pain but dont worry. It doesnt worth the risk. You learned a lot during this growing so dont waste it. Wait month or two and start again. On next plants try LST. You will be fin dude. Safe.

Thanks for the reply. I plan on doing a grow in the future with some white widow. I definitely will LST, and I was planning on doing that anyway. No worries. Thanks for the reply!:weed:
