First Grow. CFL's. Help needed.

I've got 4 plants (from seed) under 4 26W 6500K CFL's (will get more as they get bigger). 2 are 16 days and 2 are 13 days. Using Pro Mix BX. No nutrients yet, just watering whenever needed with tap water thats been sitting out for a couple days. Humidity is 45% and temp is just under 80. I have a small fan blowing on them constantly. The pic is of one of the older ones. As you can see the leaves are going brown around the edges, but is gradually taking over the entire leaf. The two leaves at the very bottom already died and fell off. This one is the worst right now but I can see the same thing creeping in on the others. Hopefully the picture is clear enough to see. Any help would be appreciated a lot.

well usually when a plant dies starting at the tips its because of over fertalization but you said you haven't used any so my guess would be that you grew from domestic seeds and the strain may not have been terribly resistant to disease, i know seeds can be pricey but i buy my seeds from dope-seeds.com they have all the seeds on the net for the best prices but you have to use the money translator link at the bottom of the page cause all the prices are in GBP

Really? I bought them from what I thought was a fairly reliable seed bank in the Toronto area ..... but if thats the case thats pretty weak. Although I guess it would make sense, they are all the same strain. Shit though they were pretty expensive.

ok here goes.

First off signs of overwatering are present. So the over wateing leads to our second problem.
Second. Its turning brown due to nute def the plants by that time has eaten all the basic nutes in that small bottom of a cup of soil coupled with the over watering it has eaten most the rest have gotten flushed.

Trans plant it to a bigger medium and this time dont plunge it to the very bottom plants dont grow in wells

I don't know about the time release nutes really, but from the reading I did before it seemed like the general consensus was that Pro Mix was a pretty solid choice. As for the lights, they are about an inch away and they don't produce very much heat. They've been on 24/0 for 16 days now and they are still fine to touch and I can hold the back of my hand directly under without any discomfort so I can't imagine it is heat stress.

np post an update in like 3 days or so the leaves that are brown will most likely continue to slowely die but new growth will be fine

They all seem to be doing well in their new homes.
Will probably start adding nutes in a week or so. Haven't decided what particular ones yet, suggestions welcome.
The pics are of the same plant as posted above. New growth seems to be fine. Hope its not a dude.

if your going to add nutes this early i would use 1/16th strength just make sure u get nutes with more nitrogen for vegging and ull need bloom nutes for flowering later

no nutes for 3 weeks after they break ground...

what kind of perlite are you using, if it's MG perlite it has nutes in it and that would be the source of your what seems to be obvious nute burn.

It's not MG (it's promix) and in a week it will be just over three weeks since they broke ground so hopefully it'll be ok.
I was definitely planning on using something with a higher nitrogen level for veg.
Is misting the leaves say twice or three times a day ok or should I not do that at all?
Thanks.
