First Grow-CFL/Sterilite Totes

Hello all....
Can you believe I have been smoking this stuff for Yrs and never once thought of growing as having MH/HIDS around here would get ya caught for sure. Well after a yr of looking at ppl doing this stealth thing... thought I would give it a shot as CFL's are way better and so much cheaper now then when they first came out. So I went out and bought this stuff from various places.

2x 18 gallon Setilite storage totes ($6.00 each)
8x small rolls of aluminum venting tape ($1.00 each)
2x 3socket vanity lights ($14.00 each)
2x Y sockets ($3.00 each)
2x 27w 3U full spectrum cfl's 6400k ($18.00 each)(1500 lumens each)
2x 23w daylight cfl's 6500k (4 pack for $10.00)(1600 lumens each)
2x 13w daylight cfl's 6500k ($2.00 each)(900 lumens each)
6x 13w soft white cfl's 2700k ($2.00 each)(850 lumens each)
2x pc fans that I pulled from some old power supplies I had sitting around
1x 12v power adapter from old pc speakers.
heres a few pics of the box
a put a black U joint pvc pipe at bottom for intake and 2 pc fans at top for exhaust.
poked some holes in back edges of boxes and put some steel rings thru it to keep it together when flipping lid open.
Im on day 31 of my grow and is doing pretty good. does anyone want me to post all my stages here and start a journal?

How are you temps inside the box? I heard people say that Aluminum can burn the plants. I ended up using car windshield sun reflectors and are made with mylar. Makes sure that no light is wasted and is reflected back to your plant.

Can you post some pics of the plants for us?

ok... here we go...and so all know... this is bagseed. So in veg mode I used the 2x 27w and 2x 13w daylight and 2x 13w soft white. here is day 3
after I took off humidity domes (2ltr bottles cut in half). Happy so far with there progress.
Temps where around 85 with humidity of around 30%.
so after looking at them like every hr to see if they grew... I finally smoked a fatty and went to bed. I still kept looking at them alot for the first few days and them mellowed out and said to myself to relax as its gonna be abit of a ride. So on day 10 they looked like this.

So they arent looking to bad. 4 of them are about the same size and look to be same strain. the little one there is my runt that I have no idea what it is. but still growing.

Nice our babies are looking roughly the same age. They are looking great. I know what you mean about checking in on them all the time...I even chill next to my grow box lmao. And it's crazy because I used to look so often that I noticed every little bit of growth. Reading the posts on here get me really excited about the end result. Thanks for the pics!

here is a pic at day14 sorry for the bad pic but lights just went out and changing to 12/12 after 18/6 for 2 weeks veg.
Took out the 27w bulbs and stuck in the 23w ones and added some more soft whites.
so as I be patient day by day I get to day17 and temps staying @ 80f and humidity @ 40%
and then day19 little one is my runt thats still growing slowly. Gave them some nutes on day 21 and I think abit to much as I got some nute burn.
Here is day23 just after i flushed them with a mix of abit of epsom salt and peroxcide in my water.

so after getting stressed that they where going to die (noobie thoughts) I just left them for 2 days.
Day25 is looking better decided to lst 1 to try and they also grew pretty good.
so another couple days go bye and here they are at day 27 boy there sad.. bone dry soil... better feed them.
here we are on day28 after feeding the night before and getting happy. My runt in the left back of pic just took off and looks like it might be a sativa as others look like indica. but Im not to sure as I am a noob at growing.
so far so good. so on day29 I gave them half mix of MG ultra bloom ( on budget ) and lsted 3 others.
heres pics at day30 2 weeks 12/12. how do they look sofar ppl?

Temps been staying around 80f and 50% humidity aslong as I Keep my soil moist (not soaked or bonedry) and spray foilage alot with plain water.

Looks good, sounds like you are taking really good care of them. Are they going to stay in those pots for the full grow?

yeah.... think there fine in those pots for now. they've been healthy in them and roots arent growing out of bottom. Plus I read that once into flowering stage there roots dont grow much. I only had them in veg for 2 weeks so.

Oh yea they look good in them now...but when they get larger might need bigger pot. how long are you going to veg for?

Im in Flower mode right now. I vegged for 2 weeks and then been on 12/12 for 2 weeks now.

I didnt want to veg them for to long as limited space and they say your plant can double in height in flower mode so. Plus first try at it. Can only get better at this as we go right? one thing I havent been able to do is ph test my soil and water as I have been trying to find a fair price probe style one. all I have seen around here are those soil test kits that have the color capsules. But I think my ph is fine from the looks of my plants.

Ah ok, that was probably a good idea because I keep reading that they stretch really hard during flowering too. They are looking good, no discoloration or anything, nice and healthy. I can see the white pistil =)

Well...so far it looks like I have 4 fems out of 5 bagseeds planted. waiting on just 1 for sex. Guess Im lucky with these seeds I had.
pics anyone?... also anyone know why my stock has abit of purple striping on the stock and stems are purple/redish. Plants seem healthy though.

yeah they doo. burnt a few leaves as plant grew into light overnight.

Damn you got real lucky with that bagseed! About the purple/reddish stems, I saw somewhere that a red stem can mean there is a deficiency of some sort. But then again it could also just be particular to the strain to be that color. I'd just watch them close! You have some updated pics?

wow... boy they do frow fastand tall. Think Im going to lst them all next time. heres a few pics.
And yes... some of the tips got burnt as the plant grew into the light overnight. And the purple/redish I think was plant needing more P in its diet. Oh yeah... all FEMS!!! Getting my veg box made up and gonna take some clippings and try my hand at some clones.

Nice! Cloning should be exciting. Make sure to put up some pics once you get the new babies ready!

Veg box made and clones are in and some more of those seeds I have. Guess will see how these seeds go. curios to see if they turn out female like all the other bag seed I planted.
