I'm tired of paying $300-$360 a donation for a oz of flowers. So Ive decided to do a minigrow on a budget, that way if it doesnt work then Im not out too much coin. I went with a bubbleponics type of set up.
So here is my setup and the prices I paid.
Set up
18 gallon Rubbermaid 8.93
Net pots - Made by hand
Hydroton - 10 liter bag 12.99
Drip manifold with 8 outputs
Water pump - 320gph 37.99 shop was out of 200gph
Air pump- walmart cheap 5.98
Tubing 25ft - walmart 2.68
Air stone - walmart 3 stones 8.46
Timer - homedepot 5.97
Cfl full spectrum lights - homedeopot 68w cfl 2700 x2 14.97
Paint - homedepot white spray paint 2.84 x 3
Power strip - 2.96
Zip ties
Cfl lights mounting - Y adapter 2.98
I went with a couple of crazy 68watt cfl from homedepot, because of their size I didnt find a decent housing. Right now I have them connected to a Y socket, I should probably upgrade this soon for more light to the plants.
I picked up this cheap air pump from walmart and I really think I need another. I currently have 2 air pumps going with 2 air stones per. The new air pump is making the first air stone dance, but the bubble are just trickling out of the 2nd stone. The 2nd air pump doesnt seem to be doing anything. I figure this would be the most important part to a bubbleponics system.
I think my water pump may be a little overboard for my application. However I was able to find this nifty drip manifold at walmart. The great thing about the manifold is I can restrict the water being pumped out. At full throttle without any restriction there is a steady stream of water coming out of the tub to the pot. not sure if this is ok, but if anyone one has any input please feel free.
I ended up putting all this in the corner of my unused closet. I painted the corner white and plan to get some white poster board to help separate the grow from the few things in my closet. All in all Im really hyped and hope everything goes well. I need to read up now plant food, when to feed and when to change the water out. I still need to pick up a PH tester as well. I plan to pick up 4 clones next Friday, the single plant in there now is a freebie I was given when I last went to one of the dispensaries.
Anyhow updates to come and any input would be great!
