First Grow Box

Hey, I've been lurking the forum for a bit but just registered. Usually when I look something up in Google the best answers come from here so I decided to join. I'm nearly done with my first grow box and wanted to share and maybe get some design advice.
I don't have a lot of cash so I tried to use things I had around. I took a box that had been used to ship an engine and put a door on it, caulked it up and painted the interior flat white. The exhaust holes are 3" PVC elbows and the intake are 2". As soon as I get some more motivation I'll increase the intake's to 3" and paint them black.
For the exhaust I was thinking I could just screw 2 four inch computer fan's over the exhaust holes, put a DC converter in there and be done with it. The dimensions are 32"H 24"W 18.5D. I won't be growing any giant trees in there but it should be enough to LST 2 or 3 plants?
I got the PVC lighting idea from another thread in this forum. The only thing I did differently was put two T's on the ends and run a smaller diameter pipe through it with some easily adjustable bolts to keep it in place.Other than that I'll be running four 42W CFL's in the 2700K spectrum. I know they say 6500K for Veg but this is a budget grow and I don't have any of those around.

Looks better than most of the micro boxes I see around, I would grow two plants in there. Might want to add a couple CFLs toward the bottom to reach the lower branches though, remember that you want the light as close as possible without burning for maximum yield.

I'm glad to see you monted your CFLs horizontalty (let the debate begin).

FWIW I mentioned PVC pipe to the guy at my hydro store and he about had a cow. Said PVC leeches out gas that will harm your crop. A while back a company made grow tents out of PVC and it killed a whole bunch of crops. He said food grade plactics only!

Looks really good I will be watching.

Well if anyone is interested I have an update picture with the fans in place. These things move a lot of air, I don't think ventilation is going to be a problem. Smell might be though000_0020.jpg

Ran it for a while today to make sure nothing would catch on fire and to see how hot it gets and it's rockin 83 degrees with only 2 42W CFL's. The outside temp it 75 degrees.
