First grow box, Newbie grower

What up roll it up gang. I wanted to drop the Info for my first indoor grow. I had previously modified a rolling laundry hamper covered in poly film and wanted to make something that might actually grow something bigger than jolly ranchers. My new plywood box is 30"x24"x48". I am currently using an old steralite container for Veg and clones. I have 3 23w (6500k), 2 23w (5000k) and 1 23w (3500k). I found two old 80mm pic fans that act as intake and exhaust. I now have in Veg: Sour D (reg) Chem Kush (reg) and a random? (?).Now onto the big boy. I am running 7 23w (2700k) and 1 45w (2700k) usually would have two of the 45's but one crapped out on me. I also use a 17 or 23w 12"x12" LED for lower growth. I have 2 white widow fem's, both are in smart pots (#1 & 2). Today is day 10 of flower. I use GH Flora series as well as Recharge and Neptunes organic fish and seaweed. I have included images for reference and would love any feed back.

Damn I hope to have mine in that status before too long. Want to get more light in but need to get a more powerful exhaust to help with heat. I'm just happy to go from a 27" ceiling to a 48". Your ladies are looking good crossing my fingers that my sour decides to be female hah. Thanks for sharing

Two 150 w HPS from Sunsystems would rock that space. They don't take up much height. You definitely need more light.

The best thing you can do for your space is invest in a vortex fan and carbon filter. 4" 170 cfm hurricane fan with 200 cfm phresh filter combos are only $120.. Add another $20 for a fan speed controller. It's something you simply must have to grow decent bud.

To save space in the cab you can keep the entire apparatus outside of the cab. Pull air from the tent and push through the filter. Or hang the filter in cab and keep fan outside cab then pull air through filter and push out to somewhere else like an open window or through a hole in a wall into a larger room.

what you need to worry about in small space is White Powdery Mildew ^^^ is right

This is a space 32 x 20 x 50 tall.. Basically the same as yours... See the two 150's hanging.. No fuss no muss. I found these 150's for $40 with a new bulb..


Also be sure to use NEW CFL's.. Put a date on the side when you first begine to use them. After 6 months of use they will have lost a lot of their output. I hear that some dollar stores have the 150w equivalent bulbs for a buck.

Damn I am sure glad I posted, you guys have tons of awesome info. I will defiantly be looking into a better exhaust, the one you provided looks like a pretty sweet deal. I'll post more updates as I grow

i guess I'm lucky that my only problem has been heat. I am doing a couple runs through the winter and might have to keep a more watchful eye.

I have that same setup.. It's perfect for small-mid size grows and well priced.. Nothing escapes the phresh filter. The fan speed controller is very important though. Those fans are noisy and if you can run it at half speed it will be much quieter..

I like your CFL setup. Looks nice and clean.. Maybe for now just replace the 23w bulbs with 40w ... 8 40w bulbs plus the LED for side lighting would be quite sufficient.

Larger pots would be good and make sure to top or LST if you haven't already. You need the need a basketball shaped plant in there. Then lollipop in 2nd week of flower.

Also, you will may have light leaks as it's difficult to seal up a cab 100%.. You can either keep the cab in a dark room or you can toss a blanket over it. I just hung a blanket over my window so it stays nice and dark in the room.
