hopefully ur right about the preflowers, I had 2 plants that had the exact same looking preflowers and they turned out females as well.

But yea, the spots on the leaves arent a major concern, and IMO from the looks of things the purple/red stems arent slowing the growth down a bit so I wouldnt worry about it either.

And if you're gonna use Fluoros the whole way thru then U might wanna consider switching to flower sometime soon, U should see sex within a week or so. But you should think about topping and cloning before you switch the lights, bcuz from my experience Ive found that the plants stretch a lot when U go into flowering and its best if U top before the stretch so the nodes will be a lot closer and the stretching will be kept to a minimum. The clones will root from a couple days to a week or 2 faster if U take them during vegg.

Besides that your doing great, keep listening to the advice these guys are giving you and you should be on your way to a bountiful harvest.

yea. i plan on topping as soon as i get the cash for root hormone and either rockwool or that peat that expands. then after the top roots, its getting planted then on to flowering. im pretty sure its a female cuz i keep seeing lil pistils somewhat popping up all over the place. hoping theyre pre sex signs.

and yea ima try to keep the plants short for lighting reasons. obviously.

Got a pic' of the pistils? A good idea is to take the pic behind a magnifying glass if your camera isn't too clever.

If buds are cultivator porn, what are pre-buds?

Those arnt pistils They are more white. on mine they were a little pink when they first started forming. You will know a pistil when you see one. I found sexing my plants for they first time was vey easy I even had a hermie. the males are very noticeble

no no. i know the big things arent pistils at all.

but im talking about the itty bitty things starting to form.

but yea. im probably wrong, but just curious for my own benefit.

so today.... is day one of flowering. :]


got red spectrum high output floros last night and a better timer that goes by the half hour.


now total lumens out put is 14,000.

not the best but will totally work for this single plant.

im praying its a she. haha pray with me! :]


there probably wont be an update til sex is confirmed. i actually feel its better that way, that way those who are actually following this journal can smile when i tell you its a female or cry with me if it turns out male.

Keep us updated, Were almost in the same stage. I am about a week ahead. you will know the pistils. One night I had nothing, then woke up to hairs. They come unexpected so you will know. anyway, GL with the grow.

yea i know what you mean. me and a buddy had a grow last year which was mainly his but i used to stop by like everyday and i remember when he started flowering i was so anxious. i stopped by like the 3rd day of flowering and just smiled. and i was like 'yo dude, i think we got us a cutie'. :]

haha. yea i think i saw the itty bitty beginning of one or two pistils. not just wishful thinking this time. but ill be keeping an eye on those particular spots to confirm if im right, or just a lil too hopeful for my own good.

What I don't get (noob moment) is why don't we just start in the biggest pot, and just leave it there? Isn't transplanting chaotic? Is there something better about having the roots start first in a small container, does it help them? Why not just start in the final container? I ask this merely as a noob.

starting in smaller containers helps make larger rootballs, thus letting the plant uptake more nutrients... cuz instead of having to stretch out and fill a large pot first, it fills the small one completely, gets repotted into a larger one, fills that, then repotted again, etc. you see what i mean?

aye yea. but i was talking about the lil itty bitty green things coming out and boom, i was right. those are where the pistils are coming from.

Newport Beach in the house!

ahhh. so I hit a few snags since i started flowering.

first one was nutrients. i had absolutely no way of getting a hold of a bloom fertilizer til thursday night and because of that, i payed the price. about 4 or 5 leaves got a deep yellow tone to them and pistil growth has been at a bare minimum.


second snag was the main stalk. it had to be tied down. it began shooting up like crazy and i had to tie it down for light to penetrate to other branches.

final negative thing is bottom leaves are looking like they wanna kill themselves. they dont look too healthy and some are drooping bad, though they do still have all their color and dont have any dead spots yet. though i know alot of lower growth is gonna do this during flowering, i didnt expect it to be so much so early on during the 12/12 stage.

on the plus side:
My baby has began branching out like a fiend. besides the main cola i predict about 8 smaller ones.


the first night after using my Shultz 10-15-10 water soluble nutes, all branches and new leaves have grown like crazy.


and pistil growth on new growth seems a bit improved.

QUESTIONS:

1. the Schultz nutes say they can be used every watering, and wont burn your plant. Does this go for marijuana too?

2. Does my pistil growth look that bad for using fluorescents and not being able to get a hold of flowering nutrients?
