2013-10-01 14.01.19.jpg2013-10-01 14.01.07.jpgHowdy there RIU,

I got my SGS a few months ago. At the time, I had some clones and a mother and decided to do throw them straight into flower under it. All in all, I was happy with the result but since it was my first 12-12 grow, couldn't really compare.

So now I am starting my first grow from seed, veg, training, etc. Seeds are Barnie's Pineapple Chunk from Herbie's. They have been in the solo cups for about a week under CFLs until today.

Tent is 4x4 but I don't use all the space. One SGS 160 in there. Soil will be mix of cheap potting soil, perlite, vermiculite, and peat moss with some dolomite lime. (right now it is MG seed starter in the cups. Seeds were germed via paper towel). Nutes will be Dyna Grow. I use a drip halo watering system.

Plan is to top once or twice, LST, etc and see what can be done.

As you can see, I have some basil in there right now as well.

Wow, seems like I should be farther along for 4 weeks... But here they are, growing slowly but nicely! I topped about a week ago and just did some lst yesterday. I think I will train and veg another 2-3 weeks before flipping.

I ran into some issues while in the solo cups. Must have been a bad batch of seed starter soil because they got hungry faster than I am used to.

I also went ahead and turned the tops I took into clones. Haven't decided what I will do with them - mini veg into 12-12 with the others, cab test, any ideas???

SGS is doin its job. I have it about 20" from tops.

I assume you don't mean the basil leaves. The weed looks a little funky in person but it is a new strain for me so I figured that was it.

Since I got them transplanted and under my nute control, they seem to be happy, just a little eccentric.

I have very little to dial in unless this strain, which I chose for being easy, dislikes my soil mix that everything else seems to like. Ph is good. Dynagro nutes, now at about 50% dose on next feeding. Temps are a little colder than before since I am on LED but still in the low 70s. That is the only thing I can think of. Any ideas?

Check runoff pH. Could also be too much nutes between soil mix + dyna grow.

Lower leafs look like they have a deficiency, upper leafs are bulbous with rolling edges instead of sharp serrations

The soil mix has no nutes. Well it is 1/4 cheap potting soil that has some compost in it, but nothing else.

the old leaves was deficiency for sure. I have some discoloration on newer growth but have it under control. I don't normally ph runoff since I know the soil and feed are good.

I just got a couple P Chunks going myself. So you have 2 SGS in the 4x4? That should be real nice. I've got one teaming up with a SolarFlare in my 3x3. I love that SGS.

I am just running one light. I have more space than I use. Which is not to say the thought hasn't crossed my mind. But I grow for personal only and I remind myself of that. No need to be swimming in weed.

I don't use all the space in my tent. With three plants, it gives enough coverage.

I fed today and PHd runoff, 6.8. Soil the same. Only one has funky leaves. I am thinking it is just her way.

New pics. LST is fully underway and tops are popping up daily! Trying to decide when to stop :-) I feel really good that I finally have her nute in control and all new growth is looking happy. Still some odd leaf structure (ignore any basil you see) but it must be genes. When I topped, I went ahead and dipped them in some clonex and put them in right into soil in solo cups. One was too small of a cutting and didn't make it but the other two are doing great. I'm trying to decide what to do with them! I'm probably going to cut some more clones off the plants right before flower to use for next grow as well. So these two are extras...

What cha think?

I have been bad about updating to this thread. Plants are now two weeks into flower. Ran into some issues adapting to LED and watering that was causing some intake issues I believe. After some modifications to the environment and resisting the temptation to do something stupid with nutes/flusihng, etc I think I have them dialed in. Hard to tell from pictures and leaves are not as dark as I would like, but I can tell they are much happier.

Space did get to be an issue. Pushing the limits on the coverage with these three plants. But I think they will do okay.

I have two clones in the tent (taken when I topped the plants) that I had move out of from under SGS for space. I added in a cheapo 50 W dual spectrum and have them under it now. Plats def like the SGS light better :-)
