first cab

I want to start growing in my office and so I attempted to build my own grow cab and was looking for some advice.
First on what I got:
2x 17w florescent grow lights from walliworld
1x 65w 2700k CFL
2x 26 w 6500k CFL
1x 43 w 2700k CFL

got the cab from goodwill seems to be 3'x4'x6' top shelf for growing bottom for storage or w/e.

covered the top area in Mylar, still need to cover the shelf and ceiling. also need to make a filter and cut vent holes in top and bottom. This is my very first attempt at this from only about 2 weeks of leaking here, so I just dove in head first, wondering if I forgot anything

Have seeds coming in the mail now in just waiting for them to get here. Also attempted to make an Ona bucket

What strain did you order?
And which seed bank?
 
I gotta few fem autoflowing bubblicious from single seed and some white widow from cannibisseeds.com as this was my first time ordering I have no idea who to use or if my stuff is really on the way
 
ight, also waiting to buy my soil and what not till they arrive. been trying to hit my friends up for their bag seeds so i can see how green my thumb is before i kill my expensive stuff lol.
 
First grow, got my first sprout today. I put seed in 3 days ago. Its a Fem Auto Bubble! Maybe you can use some books and raise that seedling near your mounted lights and lift your suspended lights a little...that way you really take advantage of them. CFLs lose their potential after 4 inches or so. I know it felt so good to see that baby started and ready! I'll be here for whatever advise I can offer. Your cab is pretty sweet, see lots of potential there!
 
Thanks ill do that! so from what I read at this point i only wanna give it a few tablespoons of water is that correct? The hardest thing I am dealing with is Heat, before i got the exhaust fan at the top the temps in the box were 100f now they are at about 75f.
 
You can start to give more water now that she has made it past the soil. A good way to gauge how much is to make sure the soil is moist, not saturated. Try your best not to let it fully dry or you can get air pockets that will cause you problems down the road. Watch her closely and you'll learn when you need to water her! It took me a couple weeks to learn to read my plants and I'm sill learning! I have over watered and under watered trying to get the right balance hehe! I don't think you'll be worrying about heat issues, that was a great decision to get that exhaust. You will be good to go to add more or higher wattage lights if you choose to do so later on.
 
I think i need more intake air or something. I just did a test run and with the doors closed temps still got to like 80F-85F the exhaust fan is just pumping out hot air lol. I have a 4'' duct fan coming but thats still in the mail. house temp is about 70F hrmmIMAG0229.jpgIMAG0230.jpg
 
An intake could help cool things down...but 80-85 isn't really anything to stress about. You don't have to have everything perfect to grow some good quality stuff. It's not usually until the 90s that you have to worry, and even then, there are some people who grow great MJ in these temps too.
 
Think i got it fig out. i had a seal running alone the sides of the doors so i took that off and I think it allows for just enough air flow drawn into the box to knock the temp down.
 
I agree with Lady.J. 80-85 is fine especially since its such a small area. I do suggest getting an intake fan tho, just to get some fresh air in there, looking good overall im in :D check out my journal aswell buddy, first time grower also :)
 
You want it you got it, I've been a busy little bee lol. I made a few mods to my cab to complicate the equation. I went to HD and got some wood and made a few more shelves to make use of the wasted space. Modded my grow lights that i got from wall-mart to fit under the top shelf so the second shelf down can be a little germination area/ grow space. I felt like the grow lights were just wasted hanging on the back wall. Added a 250cfm intake fan that blew my box up like a balloon and made the doors keep popping open, so then I added the ducting and that fixed that problem fan also dropped the temps down to 78F. I may add a secone 65W CFL to the hanging fixture and move the light fixture on the back wall under the shelf as well. My home made carbon filter is connected and working no more potting soil smell and I added a small petco air pump and air stone to bubble my water. fewwwww all done lol

Also got my other seed order from SoS 10 Crystal Limit reg and that order came with 5 free single seeds which I think is hella awesome also used the RollItUp promo code and got a quick 10% off. So I just planted 2 of the Crystal Limit, Only 2 because I think I am going to run out of space. so far nothing from www.cannabisseeds.com thinking they are a bust, placed two small orders with them before i ordered from Single seed and Sea of Seeds which i now have....but nothing from cannabisseeds :(
 
Im personally unfamiliar with that seed bank, but i asked one of my old mates from college and he said that that place usually takes a little longer to arrive but will do in good time :) and yo girls are looking healthy so far

You definitely have been busy making mods to that box lol. Your seedlings are looking great! I used Herbie's for my girls by the way, in case you were looking for another place in the future. My order took a couple weeks, pretty frustrating, but from the reviews I read people say that their seeds usually come earlier. It was very discreet though, my seeds popped, and I got more free seeds than seeds I actually ordered.
 
Nice! I wouldn't mind playing around with one of those to help get the hang of hydro! Want to try it at least once.
