I don't work at Wal-Mart so I'm unaware of their stock in your store, online they have many options.

A griddle heat can be tempered with a layer of sand... a heat mat that's running too hot may be mitigated with some layers of newspaper. I think the heat mat is best.

Haha good point. OK for sure brother.. Thanks for all the input though, I appreciate it. I'll post again once I have some better stuff to show.

An IR thermometer is indispensable. Note metal surfaces don't read correctly but the oil temp will read.
Will an IR thermometer read through the thick plastic top on a vac chamber? Or must the top be removed? My chamber has a built in griddle with the digital temp controller so i havent experminted with one yet, just did some trial and error with the machine till we got what we hoped for. I would like to get one tho for the sake of accuracy. Thank you in advance sir, i have seen many of your posts and trust your advice

Reading through the top will effect the reading.

Any reflectivity or refraction will throw off the reading.

The field of view also increases with distance.

Alrighty.. Just bought a griddle that can go down to 95f... right now it's simmering at about 110f.. it's expanded and bubbled at this point.. should i keep the heat on and let it purge or will there be a change in how it looks?

I would. By no means am i an expert tho. Usually ill purge about 2 oz at a time. Once it stops giving a reaction ill stop, fold and smoosh it all togethor and purge again. And then fo that again and again and again until there is no more reaction. After that ill do it twice more to be sure none got stuck in there. Usually a 3 - 5 day process for me. Good luck and hope this was of some help.

I havent noticed if it does. Maybe slightly at most. From what i have read on here and the experince i gained from ruining a batch or two is that excessive heat will kill the smell. I know it takes a bit less heat when under a heavy vac cuz the boiling points change to ruin some. I think it was somewhere around 140 or 150 when it will turn to a perma-goo and not smell anymore. Why that is i dont know, i have a very limited knowledge of science and chemistry and all that. But basically too much heat fucks it all up is what i learned

Too much heat application will decarboxylate your THCA into THC thus creating perma goo.
right. well what i have definitely isn't perma goo because it's at perfect shatter consistency and is quite clear but I'm going to purge it more then make a fresh batch. would you suggest pouring water into the griddle with the dish over it and blasting into it? also, how hot should the water be when blasting over it?
