Here we go... my prettiest/most organized looking germ so far... now let's just hope those beans all pop. Also included besides the TGA are 15 non-tga beans: 5 BMF, 5 Caliband and 5 Chocolate Chunkey Monkeys, just so I have a few other strains to switch it up with :) I'm now out of TGA beans, so time to start ordering more soon :)

12 Timewrecks in the airpots on the right... 3 in the cups on the left with the other plants. Looking forward to comparing solos vs the .3 gallon airpots.
Not much to see yet... but there'll be more to come

Nobody above soil yet... now is the nervous time :) They are closing on 4 days tonight since going into water. Might take a bit longer as it wasn't super warm where they initially germed and only a few had taproots... but I always put them in dirt after 2 days in water taps or not. I hope there are some sprouts above soil by tonight. I'm dieing to see all of them after the domes come off all lined up and growing.

I'm probably gonna be taking a break from smoking until it's time to trim the lower buds off as I'll probably run out today or tomorrow and not planning on buying any unless I can find some at the right price... I've gotten so spoiled from growing I refuse to actually spend my own money on buying it when I know what I grow is usually better than whatever I normally buy... also it's hard to justify the expense budgetarily :)

Come on sprouts!!! I need you to grow grow grow!!! Daddy needs to trim lower buds ASAP! :) Shit I need to get my UVB lights out and get one hung up for those sprouts.... though the CFL UVB light might do for the first week.

BMF = Boom Mutha Fucka - C4 x Caseyband (not sure what caseyband is think it is a headband cross)

Yeah it is gonna suck... but i'm looking at it as a time to give the lungs a rest, let the tolerance come down and get a few things done I don't normally because i'm spending time smoking... good to take those little breaks now and again... although I can't really stand'em :)

First sprout is up -- a Timewreck! Still working on spreading those first leaves. Hopefully in the morning there will be a bunch

Just helped that first sprout get its shell off... it'll have leaves spread by the morning when i wake up and it'll be time for the dome to come off.... I wonder if being the quickest/strongest sprouter says anything about a seed ;)

No new sprouts yet, but saw several with the upside down U of the stalk pushing the soil, so those should all be coming up in the morning i'm sure... and if there are that many I can see like that, probably most of the other ones are doing the same and I just can't see them through the soil yet. Counting down the days til May.... :) It's going to be a fun journey.

Here they come! Just about all the airpot timewrecks but one or two pushing soil... 3 out of the dome with petioles spreading, several working on getting their leaves up/free of seeds, the rest you can just see them starting to push dirt... the cups got 2 or 3 above dirt trying to spread but none out of the dome and not near as many visually pushing dirt... hopefully by this time tomorrow almost all the domes will be gone. :) That promix definitely has some myco... several of them getting a little myco web on top after a couple days under those domes. I'm using the Promix Myco version as my seed starter/base now... it's a lot better so far than the light warrior i think (too light)

TGA showing early and complete dominance... BMFs getting toasted.

14/15 TGA Timewrecks sprouted... the one that hasn't sprouted yet is about to -- I did a dig test on all the ones that haven't sprouted yet to see where they're at -- got one timewreck that's sprouted with a shell stuck on good so that one could be a problem but i'll give it some time

The rest... Caliband and Chocolate Chunkey Monkeys are sprouting well, but lagging behind... I was able to find the ones of these that hadn't sprouted other than one caliband. The BMFs are faring very poorly -- I don't think any have sprouted and multiple of them I either was not able to find or found the seed unsprouted. Could be a bad batch of seeds. If they don't hatch maybe I'll sprout the double grape apollos instead... i think there's at least a decent chance HC might send us some more of those at some point and worst case scenario tga has tons of apollo crosses.... and I don't have any apollo going at the moment for the first time this year... so if those BMFs aren't just late bloomers, I guess I'll start the double grape apollo

A lot of people have a lot of opinions on sub... one thing he does really well is produce beans that sprout well -- at least in my experience.

Overall looking good though! I'm quite psyched other than being on my last couple of bowls...

Watching, :)

be patient with what hasn't shown yet. Paper towel method is best germ method IMO, because ya never put a bean to soil without having seen the roots! I usually will let em get half inch or longer before I pot up.

Yeah I'm just not big on the paper towel method... and usually have really good results with the water technique i use... but part of the trick is keeping it in a warmer area and I didn't do that.... still all the tga beans have come up... tho one or two may not make it (one small one has turned a bit yellow not green and another seems to be stuck unable to spread leaves due to seed coating... will probably try and help it out later today if it still hasn't spread (got seed shell off this morning)

Be careful when removing seed coat, make sure to get it fairly moist and use some tweezers.

Sometimes this very thing can be the downside of not germinating in a media. Usually when the "helmet" punches thru dirt or a rapid rooter the friction loosens the coat. In the agriculture world a stuck seed coat is a sign that the seed was not planted deep enough.

Don't give up on the little sprout yet tho, they almost always recover if you can get the coat off without ripping it in half.

Basically the same thing except after the first 24 when I stir them I leave them in 1 more day unless they have a strong tap already. I used to wait until I saw good taps but had some germ issues and started going at 48 hours one way or the other... not sure those germ issues had anything to do with being in longer than 48... I would guess not :)

So TGA still going strong -- 15/15 germs, all free of shells at this point -- I had to deshell probably near half a dozen and had to strip the inner layer holding the leaves together on 2 or 3 out of those. Waiting for the last 2 to spread leaves after that now, but don't expect any issues. The one that was a little yellow this morning, I put back in a dome and it greened up. I find it's best to keep the dome on until leaves have spread AND the sprout has turned green.

The non-TGA.... still at 2/15, and I would not be surprised if none or at most only 2 or 3 more came up from those. I'm gonna pop about 10 more beans tonight and hope for better luck. They will at least have better temps than the last batch since they'll go in the grow closet that has good temps for germing. Thinking I'll sprout 4 more chocolate chunkey monkeys to go with the 2 that took and my 6 double grape apollos, cuz i always need some apollo in my life.

Update...

looks like one TW won't make it :( 14 Timewrecks isn't bad though - they all have first leaves bigger than the petioles except a few runty lagging ones. I watered their pots last night all needed it. The new soil is definitely way better than the old for water retention -- it soaks the water up like a sponge, unlike the light warrior that seemed to not want to half the time. The one thing I wish is that I had added some EWC to the promix first... but they'll be getting transplanted probably weekend after this anyway so not the end of the world.

I found a couple of more chocolate chunkey monkey sprouts, bringing the # up to 4/5 that sprouted

One caliband MIGHT make it (i dug it out from under the soil and put it in it's proper place but very immature

Found one BMF sprout but it does not look like that one will make it

So the 4 CCMs is a surprise and unfortunately I just planted 8 more in the dirt last night -- 6/8 had taps, 1 was cracked the other looked like it was about to :) I made sure they were buried a bit deeper.

The 6 double grape apollos still have not starting sprouting taps even though the CCMs started a day ago... not a good sign....

I gotta say though, with space jill x chernobyl on the way and someone else sending me a fem shoreline bean, i'm not gonna be too disappointed if the double GA don't sprout -- although they are my last double GA beans :(

Still no double GA sprouts :( Babies progressing though first leaves are now 2x size of petioles for most and sprouting the next leafset buds.
