Filtered Water?

I tried searching this. I know I leave water out for 24 hrs before watering, but could i just use filtered water instead or does that need to sit out 24hrs too? thanks. + reps for help!

Filtering removes whatever the filter is designed to remove. Some remove odors, some remove bacteria, some remove iron and other metals and some remove chlorine, flouride and other crap. Just check the specs of your filter model. Distilled water comes from heating it to steam and it condensing into water again. All the polutants get left behind because they do not change state into a gas like the water does. Personally, I just use tap water and my grow has been fantastic and I know a lot of other growers who are getting away from the pricey bottled water or RO water. I spent a lot of money last year on water; not so this year and my results are just as good.

ya thanks from what i understand, leaving water out for 24hrs makes it distilled.

Distilled water means 100% pure water with absolutely nothing else in it (minerals, dissolved substances, microorganisms etc.)

Leaving your water out for 24h will permit the chlorine to evaporate, but will not remove anything else. Tapwater is never distilled. Not even bottled water, rain or river water is. The only way to obtain distilled water is to boil until all the water evaporates and then recapture/condense and cool the vapors to form the new distilled water. This is usually done with a distiller.

Sorry if it's too much info. Anyways, all you want is water without chlorine, the rest is unimportant. Except for tapwater, any other water source will probably not have chlorine in it.

distilled water is water that's been boiled and recondensed

RO is deionised water - that's had all the dissolved salts and things pulled out of it by reverse osmosis

Brand name water filters can lower the chlorine levels

Boiling the water should also drive it off quicker
