on a cheap budget and with household items what would be a good way to fertilize my plant

A weirdo genius gardening guy named Jerry baker is on TV and has written books with all kinds of home made nutrient mixes made from common house hold items.
Go to the public library and check one out from the gardening section. Who'd a thought cleaning ammonia diluted could be your nitrogen source or that, a little Coca Cola in the mix feeds soil microbes and releases more nutrients from the soil...any way, check it out for your self and follow his recipes to the 'T'. What ever he tells you to mix, just mix that amount...'More' is not better. in his recipes.Good Luck! Happy Gardening! GrowIT!:weed:

What happens if you mix the molasses in with the fertilizer when first digging the hole?

Any 'Sugars' , molasses included can act as food for the beneficial soil microbes. When you feed them sugar it causes a population explosion and in turn they chow down and release the locked up nutrients in the soils organic matter which your plants can then use. Using it before the plant is even in the hole is just bad timing....no plant there to enjoy the benefits. Other plants and fungi will love it though.
The down side of using molasses at all is some folks assume more is better and accidently encourage soil and root fungi & molds. (they like sugar too)
I use a little molasses way diluted in the last month of watering when I'm starting to flush the plants before harvest. It gives them a burst of nutrients at the end. Other wise I stick to ORGANIC FERTILIZERS.
I DO NOT USE MOLASSES OR SUGAR IN ANY HYDRO OR AERO SET UPS, definitely will attract the molds and fungi and they'll happily munch your roots. Hope this helps a bit, Happy Gardening! GrowIT!:weed:
