Fertilizer

Alright I have one plant growing inside my closet with cfls and I'm going to be getting to the stage of needing to feed it soon. I have some granular fertilizer that's 10/10/10 and I hear it's not the best choice because of the time it takes for the nutrients to release into the soil. So I was wondering if I could dissolve the right amount of it in water first and then just water my plant? Please don't leave a comment telling me I should just get a different fertilizer because this kind is all I can get right now.

Time release ferts need to be made into a tea to change them to instant release. There are many methods for making tea and you'll find most in the Organics section. Without heat or stirring, time release ferts can take up to 48hrs to dissolve into the water. Adding a little heat and regular stirring can accelerate this process to less than half a day.

Hey sk8ers8, most time release fertilizers are usually mixed in with soil at the begging, only problem is burning occurs sometimes, so it is smart that you saved them until feeding :). I would recommend putting them in just room temperature water. I would read the instructions though so you know exactly how much to use, it should say some information about the amount.

-Good Luck :)
