Hey guys, i just built a pretty sweet grow box last night(maybe ill take pics later)and now im just waiting on some seeds to get goin...but my question was....when do i put the seedlings under light?(i assume as soon as i put them in dirt but just wanna double check with ppl who've done this before)....and also how many hours a day should i have the lights on for veg? ive heard 24/0, 18/6 16/8 lol...pretty much heard em all...id like to hear a few more opinions...any information helps...
thanks!

Put the light on them now, as they will need it as soon as they pop up.

As for light schedules, anywhere from 18/6 to 24/0 is fine. I personally recommend 20/4, since it apparently produces the best end yield, according to research done by better growers than me. (link here)

If you don't have a timer though, 24/0 is the way to go.

I just started 2 seedlings. I am in the 10th day since soil. My seeds germinated under a 40 Watt incandescent for 4 full days 24/0 and then went straight to dirt 24/0 under 2 26 watt 6500K CFLs. They have been in dirt for 10 full days with 24/0. I plan on changing the light sched to 20/4 by 2 weeks into Veg and then change to 18/6 for another week or so and finally 12/12 a month and a half in to Veg. You can have the CFLs a couple inches from the seedlings, just make sure you have a fan blowing between the plant and light so you don't burn them up. I also read that by putting your lights about 2 inches away for a few hours and then moving the lights 12 inches to 18 inches away it promotes growth. It can stretch your plants but so far I've been doing that method for 3 days and I haven't seen any stretch just MAJOR growth.

I am only 10 days https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/150601-first-grow-bagseed-using-cfl.html Check it out if you need an idea. Definitely following your grow.

Good luck
