probably not legal but honestly i always think of it as.... does he or she have the balls or authoritah ya authoritah to do it. for example. i dont ever keep buds in my glove box.. reason even thought there not aloud to search if i say no, ive met a few prick cops who will do it anyway! not saying there all dicks/coruppt/mean ect. basically what im saying is better safe than sorry

to answer your question, no, no cop / fed / w/e can come onto a property that you own, so long as you're not a renter or leaser, without some form of a search warrant as far as i know..
and even with a search warrant, they can only look for w/e was specified in the warrant, ie, they can't come in looking for drugs and take something not related to drugs as far as i know..

The courts have really turned a blind eye to the written laws these days, figuring the severity of the "drug crisis" allows that leeway. So, Bill of Rights, Constitution, etc. mean diddly squat. If you get the wrong judge, you're fucked.

If there is evidence in plain sight, they most surely can use it in court. Out of sight is a different story. But if you let them in, and they smell pot or see a bong of powder on a table- they'll go in front of a judge, explain what happened and what they saw, and the search warrant will be forth coming pronto......
