Federal Crack Down includes Newspapers, Radio and other media.

Some of you may have seen the The West Coast Leaf or you have read other publications such as the several I saw in Oakland while visiting Oaksterdam University.

These are now the focus of Federal Enforcement efforts.

I am sifting through some of the stories on this but they are thin and perhaps this is an act of sticking the Federal Toe in the California Hot Cannabis Water to see if there is support for first amendment restrictions as well.

"I'm not just seeing print advertising," Duffy told California Watch. "I'm actually hearing radio and seeing TV advertising. It's gone mainstream. Not only is it inappropriate — one has to wonder what kind of message we're sending to our children. It's against the law."
For Duffy, an emotional almost Sarah Palin like political stance on what will our kids think if they know Cannabis is semi-legal in California.. Well Yes Ms. Duffy I think they know already.

http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpps/ne...targeting-pot-ads-dpgapx-km-20111013_15469446 is one example of a story that is rather muted in the volume of stories from today.
Needless to remind folks that allowing ads has been defended in court successfully.

US Attorney Considers Targeting Pot Ads

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The chief federal prosecutor in San Diego is contemplating expanding a federal crackdown on the medical marijuana industry by going after newspapers, radio stations and other outlets that run advertisements for California's pot dispensaries, her office told The Associated Press on Thursday.
U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy made the comments initially to California Watch, a project of the nonprofit Center for Investigative Journalism. They come a week after she and three other U.S. attorneys in California vowed to close medical marijuana businesses they deem questionable and single out people who rent buildings or land to the industry.
So, even the offshoot cannabis industries are on the list of what is bad and needs to go to protect the children..

I don't know about you but Tommy Chong's Glass Bong Felony conviction comes to mind while I am reading more about this aspect.

I wonder just how far behind the Internet is if this possible ban on ads is successful.

I do agree that like the land rush (grab) of the 1800's that we all should be allowed to line up and at the specific time ride like the wind to establish our claims.

Mine happens to be horticulture and breeding such that folks will buy from me because they trust and believe in my horticulture.

I am thinking of starting my brand and offering seeds to be honest. While I cannot claim originality of genetics I can claim that my crosses are of quality and are made with love.

On the short of it yes that big business is happening while the rest of us are criminals.. Yeah it could stand a kick in the ass..
Will industry support legalization for the people? So far in three years I have been treated like an outcast for politicking such.

Enst Seeds .....I like it!

I know he needs a "Pardon" but in all honesty I think the people who made operation pipedream need to apologize. This event and busting Marc are both stupidity. But you know what, the DEA are turning nothing into something so they can keep collecting our tax money.

The 50% that voted against marijuanna will soon realize the numbers the supports have. I have to admit, ever since I joined this site I turned from a "paranoid about smoking" to a strong minded cannabis activist. We are winning this. :)

I think the threat of going after ads has had an impact as many have pulled their ads already without any action.

There are Chicken folks on both sides.

Many want others to fight the fight and they await the freedom to benefit from change without risk. It's a human nature thing.

Good for you Xoshua!

I'm all for Full scale legalization. But don't you think the Dispensarys should of just laid low for a few years?

There is nothing they can do to stop the federal government from messing with them. The feds will go after them no matter what. What they should be doing is getting all the money they can so they can afford to fight them. When it comes to stopping the federal government from encroaching on your rights, nothing matters more than money.

The federal government caught CitiGroup redhanded this week for pulling a billion+ dollar scam. No one went to jail and Citibank is open for business. Why? Because they have money. If we want medical cannabis to stay in America, it needs money behind it. That's the way the world works.

But Dan, isn't his post about commerce not being in sync with legalization for the people?

But Dan, isn't his post about commerce not being in sync with legalization for the people?

Well commerce is how it's going to become legal, like it or not. Nothing brings change to our federal government like money does. The federal government obviously doesn't care about medical facts or the will of the people, medical cannabis is supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans and doctors. The federal government cares about where their next round of campaign contributions is going to come from. The only way to get cannabis rescheduled is to hire lobbyists to donate to the right campaigns. That's how to make it happen.

Any thing other than lobbyist interaction with the federal government is futile. If you get rid of all dispensaries, then the FEDs will go after growers. This isn't about what dispensaries are doing, it's about the FEDs wanting to bust people so medical marijuana will become less available. If MMJ is less available, pharma companies will sell more Vicodin. That's what this is about.

The way to win this is not to do what the DEA wants us to do, you win by having enough money behind you to be able to lobby the government to change the laws.

Adult Bookstores (porn) are legal. Strip Clubs with VIP rooms are Legal

Have some really Loud Commercials on TV for either of them. Imagine how long they will last
