Well no. The actual German term is Brennschluß (note three (3) differences in orthography) and it contains a subtlety you did not mention. A subtlety of intention; one I consider central.

Thus I am inclined to believe that you hijacked the term for coolness, but not from knowledge.

OT(again): Thanks for the clarification. I learned the term from reading books by Willy Ley many years ago. ...and I'll never claim to be the smartest(or coolest) person in the room. :bigjoint:

I'll stay loose.

(Note added in edit. The sock puppeteer of whom I'm thinking is capable of this. Thus my vote is "undecided" at present as I do not wish to do either:

-throw a legitimate new guy under the Franzia bus

-legitimize a pestilential sock puppet of all y'all know who)

brenschluss is the point in a rocket's trajectory where it's engines cut off and gravity takes over. closest term i could find...
