Not necessary...unless you need to circulate the air to keep it cool at night.

it does not hurt anything.....but if you have all your stuff on the same timer...ehh does not really matter either way

Yeah, i have everything on the same timer. that's why i asked in case i needed to hook it to it's own power source.
