just on low, i mean i know theres special kinds for it..but i mean a regular fan on low works fine, you should be able to judge if the winds to strong or not. just alight breeze, where they kind of wavel like..
i'm going to assume you mean an exhaust fan. Ideally you would exhaust your grow room/area three times every minute. So you multiply the width times the length times the height which give you the cubic feet. you then multiply that number (the product) by three (for the three times a minute) and that equals the CFM (cubic feet/minute) rating of the fan you should buy.
The maths look like this:
((W X L X H) X 3)= CFM rating
so if your grow box is 2ft x 3ft x 6ft you should get a fan with a rating of 108 CFM (or thereabouts - doesn't have to be exact). Don't forget to put in some passive intake holes (cause you don't want to create a vacuum) and also don't forgot one or two oscillating fans to keep air constantly moving around.
the exhaust fan would be what removes all the hot stinky air from the grow room or area
usually placed near the top of the area (since hot air rises)
the intake fan (usually not necessary with a proper exhaust - but intake holes ARE necessary) helps bring fresh air into the grow room or area. usually placed near the floor or bottom to bring fresh, cool air into the room or area.
oscillating fans are those common household fans that automatically move back and forth. those are used to help circulate air inside the grow room or area. the breeze helps strengthen stems as well as other benefits.
if you are interested... Oscillate means moving back and forth. Similar to vacillate (having trouble making a decision because you are going "back and forth" over both options). For example, the grower was vacillating over the decision to purchase a 600w ballast or a 1000w ballast.
