i have a grow tent 4ftx4ft 7ft high. i want to get a 400cfm for each side(inlet/exaust) will that work?

i dont need forced inlet? im confused.....i think i kinda understand only one fan blower like a vacume effect? filter to light to fan blower is my exaust and inlet is going to come from my window outside so a filter on the end of the duct and thats it?

in short yes it would. you want the filter inline with your exhaust fan pulling the dry stale air through the filter and out of the room and a good intake supplying clean fresh air is only going to benefit the plants growth. i have 2 speed fans whith a boost fuction. i normally dont need to use it but on warm days i boost the fan which drops my temps a bit and gives them loads of fresh air. an air change every 30 seconds is good and with them 2 fans you will get more like 6 changes a minute aint going to do no harm

i was thinking in through the window to the tent....inside the tent, carbon to light to blower

at least a controller to dial back the inlet.....to maintain a slightly neg pressure so the carbon can do it's work?
plus, forced intakes are noisy as all hell..lolz

at the end of the day you know where your going to grow are you going to get enough fresh air from your window to your tent if so maybe just an exhaust fan if not a smaller fan to draw fresh air in.

ANSWER: You need 1 good sized fan (600-800 cfm) operated by this controller. http://aeroponicsnmore.com/climate-...an-speed-control-variable-idle-setpoint-p-181 You'll seriously appreciate the extra top-end on your fan when the days are hot and the room is in full bloom. That controller will maintain your room proper temperature without an air-conditioner. It's a must-have imo.

1. Hang the carbon filter INSIDE your grow room (Can 66 or equiv).
2. Duct to the light.
3. Hang the fan outside the grow room or wherever you want, then duct from the light to the fan.
4. Duct from the fan to FRESH AIR OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE. Do not just duct that air to another room!

Don't worry about fresh air coming in. Leave a window cracked or something. If there is a fat fan pulling air out of your grow room, then trust me... an equal amount of fresh air is being drawn from the outdoors. That's why it's crucial that you duct your exhaust to the outside air so that the stale air doesn't travel down the hallway and right back into your room.

Do it exactly like that and you'll have no problems with heat, humidity, C02 levels, or stank.

that's how i do it. no need for 2 fans. (i like that controller smokn.)

ok kool thanks for all the advice! i got a 400 cfm fan(hope its not to loud). so your saying the exaust and inlet ends bolth outside my window? and whats the best way to filter the air coming in?

Exhaust and intake should not be too close together if you do use an intake. I do not use an intake fan on my primary room because it's in a garage. There is enough air leak around the edges of the door.

At my other spot, I do have an intake because the spot is in a bedroom. There, I use a washable mushroom looking blue filter. I don't know what kind it is, but it was about $100 and it's blue.
