That’s pretty much a preference thing. But as far as the fan leaves, I’m not sure if anyone leaves those on, I could be wrong. But as far as the sugar leaves, that’s different. I chop all of my big fans off, but I leave the sugars on. Reason being, I tried both ways, the buds seem to dry too fast when I cut the sugars vs leaving them on. Leaving them on always gives a nice slow dry. Only draw back is it’s a pain in the neck to manicure once they are dry, way easier when they are freshly cut. So once again, I think it’s a preference thing.

Of course trim off the big fan leaves. I do a close trim at harvest, dry, and jar up. Some people just take off the fan leaves and trim everything else later. I don't know about anyone else but I despise trimming weed. So when I do it I want it done. I don't want to be trimming twice. So I take the fan leaves and trim to final jarring material one time. I know there are people out there that enjoy trimming weed, fiddling with their weed, staring at their plants, etc... I'm not one of them.

I hate trimming buds. It’s my least liked part of the grow.

wet trim gives you much prettier buds, but they dry faster and can not be as tasty/stinky

dry trim takes fucking forever but you get a slower dry and much more “whole” flavored product.

Cut any leaf that has a stem showing and no visible trichome. Leave the sugar leaf to trim after it’s fully dry. Cut the plant just once at the base to harvest it. I like to finish trim over a sifting screen so as soon as the trims are dry enough I just bounce it to make a quick kiefy hash. It’s like the cherry on top at the end of a long day....

I trim once, and I'm done. Large fan leaves and non-sugary trim first pass, sugar trim and popcorns in the second (last) round. Then I hang to dry.

Thankfully I have a wife who uses way more than me, and she enjoys trimming more than I, so she does first pass, I do sugar stuff, and we're done.

7-14 days later, I snip directly into jars.

I'm on the "I don't like trimming" side of the fence. I tried trimming a plant dry last harvest (last weekend), and I have to say that my instincts were correct... trimming dry is a mess.
