Fan Help

Okay. I posted a little while ago asking for some help with ventilation. Was really great, and took on board a lot of advice. However, ran into some problems that I am a bit ashamed of ... feeling like an idiot that I can't sort some of these issues out. But, then I thought well that is what this post is for.

Well here goes again ...

I have a small budbox (dimensions are 0.75m x 0.75m x 1.0m that's 0.56 m3 OR 2.5ft x 2.5 ft x 3.3ft that's 20ft3) It is designed to grow bud; hence the name. I bought myself a bathroom extractor fan with the correct CFM ... my down fall, it has a timer! When I looked at the wiring diagram it needs a switch for it to work ... I tried just connecting to main through a plug and did not work (btw am in England with UK mains 220-240V). I checked with a friend and they thought it needed a switch for it to work as well - who knows were are no DIYers!! Sorry I am just kind of upset, as how the hell am I gonna grow some bud if I can't even wire my fan, laughs .. sad

My other thought was . . .

I need to control odor. In the UK there are few if any closets; hence, the Budbox yet again AND flats are small and smells can travel - not good.

So I looked online for a pre-fab fan+filer. The most reasonable one I could find all wired with a plug sucks at 3.8 m3 or 133 ft3. That is expensive - doable if I had to, but expensive especially since i would basically need two of em so that I don't create a little vaccuum in my box. Again, I could afford eventually, but will put my grow start off a month (lights, soil, pots, pH meter, wetness meter, nutrients etc and tent sorted, just not ventilation)

So my questions are . . .

1) Should I just try again and get a better fan (with no timer)?
2) Is it more worth the pre-fab although expensive?
3) Is there any one in the UK with a small budbox that could tell me about there set-up?
4) Any other words of advice?

Cheers all for the continued support in my shananigans

The wiring diagram for a bathroom vent fan would show a switch, most folks turn them on and off, that doesn't mean it shows that it needs one. You should be able to hook the wires, just follow where they come into and go out of the switch. You have me curious about this timer thing. Is it some kind of internal timer so you don't forget to turn it off.

I can't play crickett. For 220 I think you will have four wires. Black, maybe red, white and green. Whatever colors they are you just have to match them up. The best source I saw in here for specific wiring for your system was by Al B Fuct. He lives in Australia and your electric systems are the same as his. Do a member search for him and look at his posts. I'm sure he had some information on your wiring.

You won't need two of them to get started IF you allow for passive intake. Before I go any further let me say, this bud box hence the name is not tall enough to go thru this kind of grief. Subtract the height of your pots and whatever system your using, I'm going to assume soil so 15". now subtract the space needed for the light and air handling system, what ever that is. If you are in the whole, it won't work hence it will not be named.
If you allow for passive intake you would only have to start with one fan. Its going to be about a month with a vented to the outside exhaust before smell will be a problem.

Without a discussion of lights these first two questions are hard to answer. I'm sure there must be some one here with a budbox hence the name. Are you sure there aren't any grow journals posted here by some one from the Uk that you could look at, Skunkkushybird is from the UK. Tell him I sent ya.lol VV
