fan/filter advice

Hey guys, spur of the moment I decided I am done with my homemade grow box and ordered a little tent.It is 3 feet wide x 2 feet deep and 5 feet tall.I am sure sounds like very little space to most but quite the improvement for me! My question is about what fan/filter to go for? Honestly I grow a small amount and have taken a gamble by not using a filter all this time.I was eyeing up a 4 inch stealth fan, does anyone have any experience with them? If it is any good, how would I go about pairing up a scrubber for it...the fan is rated 171 CFM.

Apologies for the noob questions but this is virgin ground, boys!

We need to know what light you are planning on using in order to
properly help you decide on the proper cfm and filter. :bigjoint:

Ofcourse, currently I run about 300 watts of CFL in my cab but am honestly not really sure what I will go to with the tent.Either way I can tell you high temps really wont really be a problem, I am more or less looking at keeping the stink down as my women has grown to hate it.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks man, just what I needed to know.Problem I am having is just from the small bit of online browsing I have done all the filters are up around 300 CFM....Quite the gap between that and 171

I've tried getting by with cheaper carbon filters but they dont come close to a quality carbon filter like phresh or phat

i use LED wholesalers cheap stuff on amazon and it works perfect. never had a issue as long as the cfm ratings matched.

I bought my cheap ones from led wholesalers as well.

I'm not saying they don't work, but when it comes to stinky strains they don't even come close to a phresh or phat.

Have one more question, I have not ordered yet and was wondering if the 4 inch inline is way to much fan for my small space? The more i read the more it looks like a waste.Just looking at CFM compaired to tent space is telling me it might be.Anyone reccomend going for something smaller? My main concern is simply needing a fan strong enough to pull through the filter.Would those cheap duct boosters have the power?

well to be honest when you said 4 inch i thought it might be too SMALL until i read the cfm rating on it. you want to circulated the air around 5 times a minute so figure you cubic feet, multiply that by 5 and that should be the cfm your looking for.

If you're willing to part with a little bit of change, the 6" max-fan is hands down the best fan I've seen in the 6" and under range. It's got a built-in speed controller to dial down the CFM to suit your needs. It runs quieter than other 6" fans and it's way smaller. To top it off, it uses less electricity than the usual 1amp 6" fans.

Runs you an extra $40 or so but it's a worthwhile investment. Just my .02.

not really sure about how loud they are. MIGHT make your room sound like a jet engine but idk lol.

haha figured....I think I am going to experiment a bit, since I am growing in a pretty small area I am going to try out one of those DIY ona bucket things. If it doesnt work then I guess my lady will have to decide between noise and smell.

thanks for the help fellas

ehh i wouldnt use ona, it just tries to cover up the smell rather than eleminate it but its up to you what you do man.
