ez clone rooting gel safe?

I bought some ez clone rooting compound from my local hydro shop and the warning label says not intended for use on food crop sites. I was just wondering if its going to be safe for my clones?

Yes it is safe and totally unnecessary. You can clone in a glass of tap water. But I have used the gel. One, it has a shelf life once opened. It helps to refrigerate it but that simply delays its viability a little. A better choice next time is cheap cloning powder. Either way they contain butyric acid or a related compound so six of one and half a dozen of the other.

The cloning aids I have seen/used are all intended for use on woody plants like trees and berry canes. Pot qualifies for that.

Cloning in the cup of water doesnt require the cloning gels and powders does it?

Are humidity domes necessary with this method

I personally like the old school method using perlite in a cup of rooting solution.
all you really need is the cup of water and a little time and patience. The powders and gels do help with rooting. So does air around the cutting with moisture. One if the reasons a aero-cloner works so good. It sprays a mist. You really don't need a dome either. I never use one.
