Extra lighting?

I've got 4 GDP, all in 5 gal smart pots with tga super soil. My tent is 4x4x6, and my plants are about 6 weeks into veg. I have a 600 watt ballast dimmed down to 400w mh, when I switch to 12:12 hps I plan on running the full 600. But I do have a 400 watt hps just sitting around, what does everybody think about putting that in with my 600? Heat isn't an issue either, both the reflecters are air cooled. Is that kind of overkill with the 600? It is only 4 plants, but I don't know. Suggestions please..

It's not overkill at all. More light is better... Just about always. So if heat isn't an issue, and I could afford a 600 watt bulb, you better believe I'd do it!!

very good idea, I run 2 400 watts plus another 100 watts from a t5 haha more light the better

More light the better, yes ....but I'd be inclined to start vegging a second batch with the current 400w and use the 400w hps to bud the current lot ..lol greedy me!!!! ...lol

What is the advantage of running a 600w hps with 400 mh during flowering, versus using them both as hps?

Hay dude im in similar position but I need to buy the bulb and cool tube ( i have a few more plants though) Im 4 weeks in to 8-9 weeks. Was wondering if makes a missive difference. Hope ll goes well bud but if I had it all sitting here I would stick everything I had in.

I don't know how everyone could be more clear: more light = more bud.

So yes, it does make a massive difference, and even if it only made a small difference, wouldn't you still want to do it?!? More is better right?

I honestly can't understand growers that don't invest as much as the can afford into their set up. If cheap stuff was just as good, we'd all use cheap stuff.

I'm sorry if this was snarky or pretentious, I really don't mean for it to be, I just don't even understand the hesitation: every time I can afford a bigger reflector, quieter ballast, better boosters, more quality genetics, or anything else I think might give me any advantage what so ever, I buy it.

I'm not endorsing going broke, just all you can afford, and you will be paid back in full
