experimental mushroom tek.is it viable???

My easy microwave and pressure cooker free method. Buy jar of liquid culture on ebay. Inject and wait a few weeks. Buy several pre-sterilized grain bags on ebay. Innoculate with liquid culture. Let colonize. Mix with cooled oven pasteurized home made compost. 30% coco, 60% hand picked leeched field manure, 10% compost. If you attempt to grow in sterile media you will always be fighting contamination. Once you get the mycelium introduced into manure it takes off and you don't have to screw around sterilizing stuff all the time. You can get set up with this method for less than the cost of a pressure cooker. I have found that after you get a fair amount of compost colonized you can spawn it into unpasteurized compost provided it's not too buggy. Turkey bags work great for oven pasteurization.

Pasteurized and Sterilized are not the same. Pasteurized still has microbes but they tend to be the hardier slow growing microbes which don't mess with the fungus. If you sterilize compost you are in for a world of hurt.
