Experiment 0607-4

Ok, I am currently finishing up another project on neglect and abuse. Here we have one surviving plant out of an initial six, the other five turned out to be 4 males and one hermie (none died from natural causes).
- this grow consisted of six seeds from various bags
- one small walmart fan, one spped no oscillation
- growing medium MiracleGrow moisture control soil mixed with perlite
- Grown in 1 gallon pots
- lighting was furnished by 5 T8 flouro tubes attached to a 20L gallon screen top suspended between two end table shelves
- No fertilizer was used, except for that which was impregnated into the soil, during vegetative growth
and Dnya-grow Bloom was added during the 3rd and 4th week of flowering.

Initially the plants where started from seed and i used 3 Marine Blue T8 bulbs and 2 AquaGrow T8 bulbs. The Marines put out Blue light and the Aquas are purple bulbs. The lights were set for constant light for the first month. Then the lights changed to 18/6 for the second month. Plant growth was nice and steady. Although I did not use a timer for this, having the clock sway is part of the experiment. Sometimes the lights were on for 18/6 sometimes it was 20/5 , 16/5, 18/8.
As the plants grew some little black bugs entered the game, they were left to themselves until a week before flowering when pest control was administered. The bugs seemed to have no effect that could be seen other than they bite.
After about 2 months these plants were several feet tall
and had very nice looking growth except for side shoots were very limited and small, just one straight stalk. After the nodes became uneven I waited for 4 uneven nodes before I forced Flowering(they had between 13 and 16 nodes a piece).
Once the clocks was changed(along with the lighting which is now 4 standard bulbs and one blue) to 12/12, it took about a week before 3 plants started to show male flowers, these were pulled.A couple of days later another male was found. Leaving two plants without signs of sex. Good I thought, 2 is a good number, not 3(or more) but fine with me. Now it is 2 weeks into flowering and one of the plants has show both, some pistils some sacs, It was pulled. With one plant left any hope of a return, which I hadn't really had any, was in her hands. She started to produce several pistils. I added Dnyagrow Bloom twice during the next two weeks.
It was at this point one plant roughly 3 feet tall was flowering. Her side shoots, which began to grow considerably since the time change, also began budding.
Now to create darkness I just threw a blanket over the top of my screen.the lighting periods again were all over, most of the time it was 12/12,especially during the first 2 weeks of flowering, but I did range it from 14/12, 10/12, 12/15, and 10/14.
Yesterday I noticed that several of the lower flowers had finished so I harvested them. She should be finished within the next couple of days.
Now with the end of this experiment I should say to all the purist and crazies, YES it is possible to grow and complete a grow with minimal attention lackluster light
poor growing room(1 gallon pots). This looks like there may be an ounce on this plant we will know in a week or two.
Remember It is called Weed for a reason, and when growing just remember less is more, It is for easier to kill your plants with kindness then it is with neglect.

Here are a couple of new pictures, not that they are new. The buds are currently finishing up their drying and await to be smoked. The cola when cut down weighed in at just shy of one ounce, wet. Currently it is around 4 grams pretty much completely dry.

yes variable, but a lot of people tend to err on the side of over caring. A lot of newer growers don't know what is best and think if a little does this much than a lot will do better.

If it is your first time or maybe your second, take your time to figure out what happens with out, then slowly add more stuff. You can learn alot from each crop, and clones can teach you even more.

because you negelcted your grow you only got 4 GRAMS of bud for the cost of electricity to run 5 t8 bulbs. I think if you arent gonna give the girls what they need then you would be better off buying bud.

Total weight from the plant was actually 8 grams the cola was 4. The experiment wasn't about getting max results.
I can put a newly rooted clone in the woods with a small amount of dirt prep and leave it out in the woods all year without visiting it and get bud doing that. But that dosent mean that the smoke will be of quality decent enough for that small effort.

Not to be rude or offer extreme criticism, but what happened to these plants???

You truly have a TON to learn. These plants nodes are so far apart, and leaves so few, its no wonder the bud in your pictures looks so sparse and airy! Anyone could get a bigger grow than this by starting a plant inside, transplanting it outside, and never giving care to it again until harvest time.

The buds in these pictures majorly lack density. They are also entirely too leafy while having what looks like almost no thc crystal activity.

I saw a post of yours on another thread as well criticizing a stealth grow journal, stating that it takes 2-3 months just to veg. Was this plant vegged for 2-3 months? I hope this isn't the best you could do after that long of a time period! In three months you should be able to germinate, veg, flower, and harvest without any problem. Hell, I know some people who can harvest twice in that time period.

I understand he is trying to prove you can complete a grow with obviously no care given but please don't allow any newbie's to read this quote! It may be easy to kill plants by overcaring for them but there are so many things that even a newbie could have changed to fix this grow. Learn from your mistakes and inform yourself before, during and after starting a grow, and you'll get a much better looking, better tasting, denser product with only a little extra care.
