exhaust

What up y'all. So I'm attempting my first grow. I built a 3x5 tent in my garage. Is exhaust a must? I've got a fan and a heater in there right now and plants seem to b doing fine. Can I get away with not spending money on exhaust system.

Get a thermometer and make sure temp and humidity are good so you don't get any surprises. You do need fresh air coming in to provide oxygen and co2.

If you're ok with the neighbors smelling weed and temps are ok, then no you don't need exhaust.

awesome! Thanks for the info! Temp is around 80 deg, but my humidity is at 40%. Should I use a humidifier? I'm sure humidity is very hard to control and I dont want a fungus to develop

You really should have one and then just have passive air intakes. Heaps of stuff on google.

How are you going to deal with the smell? Normally people just hook the exhaust fan to their filter.

yes i would go with a filter just to keep control on temps if nothing else ,not only that but if you have a neigbor like mine you never no when popo might show up

if you only need air exchange and not odour filtration, you can just trash an old computer box from somewhere and use the 5" case fans. a few can be hooked up in parallel and wired up to a transformer (bust up any 12V power pack and match the amps) and you got an el-cheapo exhaust for your tent. Cant set you back more than $10.

No need for a humidifier, if you need anything it would be a dehumidifier.

What you need is something simple like this for temp/humidity monitoring: http://www.walmart.com/ip/16888914

Keep your humidity between 30 and 50 and you should be fine. Keep your temp between 60 and 85 and you should be fine.

Most importantly don't get busted due to smell, you need exhaust with a filter or at least an air purifier with a carbon filter in it.

3x5 is pretty small for a decent sized garage so you may be able to handle it without a normal exhaust.

honestly I have no idea how bad the smell is. Lets rephrase that, how good the smell isSo I should get an exhaust with carbon filter.

4" will easily cover a 3x5, but 6" will let you upgrade to bigger if you want. If you go with the 4" you can buy a dryer vent and duct from HD/Lowes/... for cheap. 6" also directly hooks to a vented hood if you want one of those, I don't.

Ok. Thanks to everybody for all of the suggestions! Everybody should b medicated. The world would b a better place!!!
