This is one of my favorite punk rock bands. I never used to like it but a good friend got me hooked on Against Me! Ive been diggin it ever since. Other folk punk bands like Dropkick and shit. Post up some other good punk music.

I love Against Me. I've seen them live a few times, they're fucking legit. I'm still upset that warren (the drummer) left the band

Personally I love gypsy punk bands too. I fell in love with gogol bordello after i heard the song 'start wearing purple'.

rep+ First chance you get to see them you HAVE to go. They're fucking insane live. If you've ever seen videos of them live on youtube, you can see the energy in the room. Don't watch the videos of them at a festival or big arena. Watch the videos at clubs with like 50 people in the crowd. They still do a lot of basement shows around my area in Florida since they were grew up like 30 minutes from me. so awesome

i didnt think any body DIDNT know against me... they are well known... so is modest mouse since they became mainstream
go for OLDER modest mouse they are indie really not so much punk...

a bit of a rip off of springsteen's No Surrender but still awesome...

I guess it depends on where your at. They do have some mainstream songs on the radio, but they are definitely not largely known to everyone outside of the punk scene.

BTW I fucking LOVE modest mouse. I don't really listen to them much anymore. But The Moon & Antarctica is my fav. album

I think once u have say a few CDs with some songs on radio (i dont have radio BTW, i had satellite radio for awhil;e but terrestrial radio is for sheep), then id consider them decently well known

In reality I wouldn't say it's that long. Probably early 90's, maybe 94-95? Definitely not long compared to bands like Bad Religion (formed around 1979, still making albums today) and The Descendents (formed around 1976ish, still making punk albums today)

Bad Religion is AMAZING. hands down. AMAZING.
Lead singer has a PHD, masters, and a few other degrees. Sometimes teaches at (iirc) UC Berklee.
