Even if Prop.19 passes, federal drug laws will be 'vigorously' enforced, official say

And when that happens, the US Govt will have to explain why they hold a patent, number 6,630,507, that claims that marijuana has MANY beneficial effects on the treatment AND prevention of such diseases as HIV, Dementia, Alzheimer's, Lou Gherrig's disease, stroke, heart disease, etc.....

You see, schedule one claims that the drugs listed have no medicinal value, yet the Health and human Services Department holds a patent that says otherwise. They have since 1999. It is time to force the government to explain duplicity or reschedule Marijuana altogether. We have been deceived for far too long and we have wasted billions busting a potentially life saving drug that grows naturally. I wonder what pharmaceuticals are lobbying against medical marijuana?

You know we would all love to see that happen but who is going to force them to reschedule? Obviously not the voters... Unreal!

I am not surprised at all that the feds are going to crack down hard, if this prop does in fact pass. And who knows if it is even going to pass? I mean all the internet polls show that it will pass by a pretty big margin, but remember who the average voter is. Older folk who do not use the internet like us young guys do. These older people only have the corrupt media to base their decisions on, they will vote no on the prop. I could see if failing by a huge majority, but then again I could see it passing by a huge majority.

But unfortunately for people like us every bit of politics has a financial underlying factor to it. Lets face it, if marijuana is in fact TOTALLY legalized, even at a federal level that puts mj in direct competition with the big pharma companies, booze companies, tobacco etc. These companies have enough money to get the lobbyists and get the feds to shut down mj time after time. Until a few billionaires get together and buy some high powered lobbyists we do not stand a chance.

Sorry guys but those who have the money in this world make the rules. Big pharma and alcohol businessmen will not let some new industry come in and take money from them.

Very True! It’s pretty funny how this was said like a week after I heard the Alcohol Companies invested millions into Anti Prop 19 Campaigns... America is great!

Yeah i read that as well. I didn't even need an article confirming it to know it was going on, it makes perfect sense.

But look at the bright side, I am a medical patient, I think the rules are fair with my states prop on med mj. I like the way things are now....

And just how old are these "Older folk" that can't understand the internet?
I understand that I might not be the norm for people my age, but I'm not a spotted owl by a long shot.

And on to the topic at hand. This will be big brother prodded by big money versus the people of the state of California where in they (the feds) will try to stem the tide. It's obvious to anyone who's not got their head stuck in the sand that change is a coming regarding Cannabis laws, and they will try and stop it using some underhanded tactics.
Watch for Govt propaganda to try and rationalize the actions that are going to happen. The only way this is winnable (for us) is NORML and other groups to broadcast compassion pieces showing the benefits of this plant - to get popular opinion behind the voice of the people (IE the prop 19 vote) and to see that the govt is not listening to us.
I hope it doesn't go Kent state, but I see the potential.
And as for the med patents rationalizing that it won't affect them - federal law is federal law, it applies to you as well.
